Jisung's Christmas could be resumed in just one word: lonely.
He spent it in bed crying mostly. If not that, watching random movies and eating through the cookies his flatmates had gifted him.
Everyday he stared at Minho's contact and everyday he wished he could unblock him.
But he couldn't.
Felix and Hyunjin called a few times, extremely worried but they were both out of town and couldn't do much to cheer him up.
He'd go to bed bitter every night, imagining Minho happy with his wife then wake up warm from a dream about him.
He'd curse himself and hate himself and wish he could go to a rage room to let it all out.
Instead, he'd rot for days on end, feeling numb.
The first to come back to the flat was Jeongin, a younger, bright eyed student who instatly realised Jisung had fallen into some sort of depressive episode and started forcing him out the door.
They'd go on long walks in their neighborhood, talking about nothing and everything. Each one ended the same way:
"Jisung, what's going on with you? Please tell me" Jeongin would ask.
"Not yet" Jisung would answer.
A bit later, Chan came back too. And he was way firmer than Jeongin.
Instantly, he ordered him to explain what was wrong:
"How are we supposed to help you if we don't know what you're going through??" he said:
"We can't read your mind, Ji you know that right?"Jisung couldn't argue with that. So he gave what he could give:
"I'm heartbroken" he told Chan and it was true.
The older man's eyes got softer at that.
"I see" he said gently:
"It sucks, I understand. You're feeling your feelings and that's good. I want you to know that they're valid... of course they are! Heartbreak hurts like a bitch and we all know it."he placed a hand on Jisung's shoulder and gave him an understanding squeeze:
"But Ji... I can't let you destroy yourself because of this, mh? I'd be an awful friend if I did. So please if you need anything I'll be more than glad to help, you just have to tell me"
Jisung nodded, feeling tears of gratitude prick at his eyes.
"Allright" Chan got up and walked to their joint kitchen:
"I'm cooking for everyone and we're planning something for tomorrow, k?"And they did.
From that moment on, Jisung felt ok.
He hung out with Jeongin and Chan and then Felix and Hyunjin when they arrived. He smiled, laughed, somewhat took care of himself.
But a lingering darkness still trailed after him, waiting to jump into his mind when he least expected it.
