"Alright, everyone, time to get up. Let's go, we're wasting daylight." Tiffin announced, her voice echoing through the room. The group groaned in unison, reluctantly pushing themselves out of their makeshift beds. Lumi rolled over, her messy hair spilling over her face as she yawned. Lenix stretched his arms above his head, cracking his neck in the process. Damien sat up on the couch, his ears twitching as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. Jester muttered something unintelligible before flopping onto her side, still half-asleep. Lucky sat up gently, her hair somehow neat and tidy as always, while Sarviline's hair stuck up at odd angles like a porcupine.
"What time is it?" Lumi asked groggily, her eyes barely open.
"It's time to get back on the road." Tiffin said, kicking the side of the couch that Jester was sleeping on. The sleeping Demon let out a yelp and rolled away from the couch, rubbing her eyes. "We've got a long way to go today. We should make good time."
"Jeez, calm down." Lenix groaned, blinking to adjust his eyes to the morning light filling the living room. "You're acting like our mother."
"If I were your mother, I'd kick your ass out of bed every morning at the crack of dawn!" Tiffin snapped back. "Now, let's get going!"
"Relax, Tiff, we'll make good time." Sarviline yawned, stretching her arms out behind her. "Just because you're not tired doesn't mean the rest of us aren't."
Tiffin looked like she wanted to argue further but instead sighed, running a hand through her hair. "Fine, fine. We'll take it easy for a bit. But let's not dawdle too much."
"What's for breakfast?" Jester asked eagerly, her eyes barely open halfway.
"You're not even fully awake yet and you want to eat?" Lumi asked incredulously. "Why don't you just wait until we get to the next town and we can stop at a proper diner?"
"Nonsense." Pikseline's voice wafted from the kitchen, and they all turned to see her feeling her way over to the sink, filling up a glass of water. "You will not arrive in the next town for a good few hours. I shall make you a simple breakfast. It will be ready by the time you're all wide awake."
"Yay!" Jester exclaimed, clapping her hands together. "Thanks, weird blind lady! You're the best!"
"I've...uh...been meaning to ask you about...um, being blind...if that's okay?" Damien asked, leaning over the back of the couch, his tail swishing slowly behind him. "I've never met anyone who was, you know...blind before. How do you...like...cope with it? I know you talked about it last night a little, but...I'm just curious, I guess."
Pikseline smiled as she rinsed her cup, her hands moving gracefully over the sink. "It's not so bad, really. I've been blind since I was very young, so I've had plenty of time to adapt. My other senses have grown stronger in compensation. Indeed, it does make certain things difficult, but nothing I feel the need to complain about. My precognition abilities also help; I can sense things coming before they happen, so I don't often trip or bump into things."
