KATRINA
She folds her arms, leaning against the doorway. In the kitchen, Wanda and Vis stood chatting near the stove. Wanda chuckles ad something the synthezoid says causing the young woman in the doorway to smile. "Kat, hey!" Wanda call when she sees her.
Katrina waves in greetings stepping into the room stopping next to the counter opposite to where Wanda and Vis stood. "What're you making?" She gestures to the pot in front of Wanda on the stove.
"Vis was trying to make Paprikash." She smiles her nose scrunching. "It didn't work very well." Katrina 'hmms', leaning over to dip a finger in to taste it.
Oh.
She grins over at Vis. "At least you tried." She shrugs with a chuckle. He grins awkwardly. Wanda picks up a small bottle tipping a small amount into the pot. Katrina glances over at Vis when he shifts. "Wanda? Katrina?" Their attention moves to the synthezoid. "Hmm?"
He moves forward to look at us both. "No one dislikes you, Wanda." She frowns, confused. "Nor you Katrina." She furrows her brows. "Thanks?" Katrina glances up at Wanda, raising a brow. She returns the look with a matching face.
"Oh, you're welcome. No, it's a ... involuntary response in their amygdala. They can't help but be afraid of you." The witch leans agianst the counter placing her head on her fist. "Are you?" Wanda asks.
"My amygdala is synthetic, so..." They laugh at his joke. "I used to think of myself one way. But after this..." She raises her hand playing with the tendrals of red magic. "I am something else. I'm still me, I think, but... that's not what everyone else sees." Katrina raises her own hand letting her own darker magic form and mix with hers. "We all are, something else I mean."
"Do you know, I don't know what this is?" They both turn to look at Vis who gestures to the stone in his head, it glows at his probing. "Not really. I know it's not of this world, that it powered Loki's staff, gave you your abilities, but . . . its true nature is a mystery. And yet, it is part of me." Katrina smiles. "Are you afraid of it?" Wanda inquires.
"I wish to understand it. The more I do, the less it controls me. One day . . . who knows? I may even control it." She smiles again, and Kat gives small grin. Wanda glances down at the stove. "Whatever you did to this, I can't fix." She puts laddle down into the pan, turning to move around the counter. "I'm gonna go to the store. I'll be back in 20 minutes." Vis steps infront of her, glancing down.
"Alternatively, we could order a pizza?" He inquires, sounding hesitant. Katrina frowns at the red and silver man. "Vis, why aren't you letting her leave?" She asks moving to stand next to the two. Wanda tries to move around him but he blocks her again. "It is a question of safety."
"I can protect myself." Wanda nods as she speaks, trying to- again- shift around him. Vision raises an arm stopping her with a sigh. "Not yours. Mr. Stark would like to avoid the possibility of another public incident. Until the Accords are on a... more secured foundation." Katrina looks between the two.
"And waht do you want?" She asks looking up at him. " For people to see you... as we do." He gestures to himself and the girl beside them.
She sighs, frowning as Wanda turns and leaves for her room. Katrina turns back to Vision who moved back to the counder where a phone sat. She waited a moment until she could feel Wanda leave the floor.
"What the hell Vis?" He turns to her with shock covering his features. "What the hell?" She repeats, stepping forwards. "Did I offend you Katrina?" He looks at her looking confused.
"You can't force her to stay here." She gestures in the direction Wanda had left. He frowns, "But there are a group of protestors at the front gate. They are protesting, threatening violence." She blinks in surprise.
She hadn't known that- and she doubted Wanda did either. "Did you tell her that?" Katrina tilts her head at the doorway. "No, but she needs to stay here- for her safety." He says again causing her to sigh. "I agree, she should stay where its safe- but you can't just make her stay here." She move around the counter until shes standing next to the taller man.
"I know you mean well Vis, but its not ok to just force her to do something." Katrina smiles placing a hand on his shoulder. She turns, leaving the kitchen before he responds. Katrina sighs, making her way towards her room.
As she makes her way up the stairs she pauses turning her head in the direction of the front gate, and sure enough she could faintly feel several presences formed, all shifting restlessly. Great.
Katrina pushes open the door to her room, flicking the tv on with a wave hoping to see something good about the press conference being held. Instead what she see is the news showing what was left of an explosion. Katrina rips her phone out of her pocket pulling up the contacts and clicking the most recent one, still looking at the screen.
The call goes through but there was no response. She presses call again, no answer. The panicking woman scrolls through her contacts calling Natasha instead.
The ring cuts off.
"Hello?"
"Natasha! Is everyone ok? I tried to call Tony but he didn't respond." She blurts out, she hears her start calling Katrinas name on the other side. "Hey, hey hey, we are all ok. Tony's just busy trying to help out." She sighs in relief, nodding even though she couldn't be seen.
"What happened?"
Natasha pauses on the other side, "The running idea is the winter soldier, there's footage." Katrina mutes the tv, pacing in the center of the room. "Let me help, I can-"
"No, no its ok Kat; take a deep breath." She inhales, pausing in her pacing. "I don't think its a good idea for you to come here right now, ok?" The teenager frowns, turning back to the tv. She finally take notice to the little blurb at the bottom. Several were dead, several Wakandans. Done by a figure of Hydra.
Just like with Lagos.
"Oh." She makes the connection Natasha wasn't saying. People were already upset after Lagos, and Katrina wasn't shy in her support of Wanda, whom had also been a figure of Hydra- even if she hadn't been fully aware- Katrina realises she might make things worse. Katrina nods again- unseen to the Widow. "Ok, But is there anything I can do here?" Katrina ask again.
"No, just stay put. I'll be in touch."
She hangs up, leaving Katrina alone to her thoughts.
