Trey wandered the store waiting for an order to come in when Evangeline walked into the store, juggling her keys, phone, and wallet. She was practically running to the time clock, as she was already fifteen minutes late.

He skipped over to her and kissed her head, wrapping his arm around her shoulders. He squeezed her, despite her wiggling to get punched in. "Good morning, beautiful."

"Morning." She smiled up at him, the black and blue bruises on her neck catching his attention like a flare. She had covered them with at least three layers of foundation and powder, but her pale skin held no secrets— it never did. Usually, she was not this concerned about it, but the thought of her boss catching her with hickies down her throat made her nervous. He cocked an eyebrow at her. "Don't look at me like that," she demanded.

"I thought we said you weren't going to sleep with her."

Rolling her eyes, she shook her head to clear the beautiful memories that flooded her mind. She'd shared herself with Aurora, and for the first time in her life, she didn't regret her sexual endeavors, but she was afraid of the repercussions that could follow. "I'm not going to kiss-and-tell."

"Your neck says otherwise," he mocked, slipping his finger in the collar of her shirt. He looked down at her chest, seeing all of the love marks on her soft tissue. "And your boobs."

She shooed his hand away from her and she laughed. "I'm late. Move."

"Did you treat her right?"

"All I'm going to say is that that woman knows exactly what she's doing."

"That good, huh?" Trey pressed.

She rolled her eyes back dramatically. She could contain her gratification. "God, the way she used me was like magic."

"Magic, huh? Did you at least talk to her before getting down and dirty?"

Evangeline considered the question momentarily as she punched in for her shift. "Well, we are dating now, so I guess that is an important note."

"Hell yeah!" He raised his hand well above his head, encouraging her to jump to high five him.

"Put your hand down," she commanded. She lowered her voice and looked into the break room and made sure they were alone. "Keep your mouth shut for now. I haven't talked to Jeff yet about promoting her. I'm still her boss, and neither of us can afford to lose our jobs. I don't think she even realizes how much trouble we could get into."

"And yet, you still did her."

"You didn't see the look in her eye, I did." She led him out to the service desk.

"Morning, Jeff," Evangeline offered, grabbing the clipboard to begin counting the safe. She carefully moved around Jeff to make sure he didn't get a good look at her. He was the closest thing to a father figure she had, and she wasn't about to disappoint him. She was a slut, but she didn't need him to know that. She'd stayed under his radar thus far, she wasn't about to slip up. "Ready?" She asked.

"Well, well, Miss Eve," he chuckled knowingly. "I think we need to have a talk."

She smiled, her nerves paralyzing her tongue. "Why?"

"Something very important happened yesterday," he continued. He grabbed a piece of paper from the table and presented it to her upside down.

"Jeff, I swear to God, I was going to talk to you," she offered, rambling over her words. The paper shook in her hands. "Things just happened so quickly."

"Yesterday was a hectic day. Rest assured, we have the time to talk now."

Her heart fell to her feet and the floor began rippling underneath her. Her body was drenched with cold sweat. As she turned the paper over, it had a fancy script on the top of it, her name in the middle, and at the bottom there was two lines of print.
