Astrid and Aiden walked side by side, their footsteps punctuated by an uncharacteristic tension that hung in the air.
The beauty of their surroundings seemed to contrast sharply with the growing unease between them.
Astrid glanced at Aiden, her brow furrowed with concern. "Aiden, what's been bothering you lately? We used to be so open with each other, but now it feels like there's a wall between us."
Aiden sighed, his gaze fixed ahead as he struggled to find the right words. "It's just... I've been feeling insecure, Astrid. Insecure about our differences, about what I can offer you. I can't help but wonder if I'll ever be enough."
Astrid's eyes widened with surprise, her voice tinged with disbelief. "Aiden, why would you ever doubt yourself like that? You mean the world to me. It's not about what you can offer materially; it's about who you are, the person you've shown me."
Aiden's shoulders slumped, a mixture of vulnerability and frustration etched across his face. "But Astrid, it's hard not to think about it. I see the way Eleanor looks down on me, belittling my worth because of my circumstances. It's difficult not to let it affect me."
Astrid reached out, her hand taking hold of Aiden's, her touch gentle and reassuring. "Eleanor's opinion doesn't define us, Aiden. We have to rise above it. I believe in you, in us, and I won't let anyone's judgment tarnish that."
Aiden's gaze softened as he looked into Astrid's eyes, a mixture of gratitude and love shining through. "You always know how to bring me back to reality, Astrid. You see beyond the superficial, and I'm grateful for that."
With a deep breath, Astrid turned to face Aiden, her heart racing with both nervousness and joy. "Aiden, there's something important I need to tell you," she began, her voice filled with a mixture of emotions.
Aiden's gaze sharpened, his brows furrowing slightly. "What is it, Astrid? You seem a bit anxious. Is everything alright?"
Astrid's lips curled into a radiant smile, her eyes sparkling with happiness. "Everything is more than alright, Aiden. In fact, it's wonderful. I just found out that I'm pregnant."
Aiden's eyes widened in disbelief, his mouth agape for a moment before breaking into a wide grin. "Pregnant? Are you serious, Astrid? That's incredible news!"
Astrid nodded, her voice filled with warmth. "Yes, Aiden. We're going to be parents. Our love has created new life, and it's a miracle I couldn't be happier about. After 4 years of us being together!"
Aiden's joy overflowed, and he swept Astrid into a tight embrace, his heart pounding, "Astrid, this is beyond anything I could have imagined. I'm going to be a father, and I promise to be the best partner and dad I can be."
Tears of happiness welled up in Astrid's eyes as she held Aiden tightly, their embrace a celebration of the life growing within her. "I have no doubt about that, Aiden. You've already shown me so much love and support. Our child is lucky to have you as their father."
