The golden sun stands strong on a bright and jovial weekend. We have the train ride tomorrow, it's all booked and sorted now! I'm really looking forward to it, and I think everyone else is too. Even if we don't get what we want, I think we will still have a good day.

I think this as I gaze out of the car window as we drive through the winding labyrinth of the city. Mum keeps talking about how glad she is that she got a big car, otherwise only half of us would fit in here!

We're going to my grandparents, mum reckoned that it was time they finally met Luca and James. This was quite frankly a very short notice trip but a welcome one nonetheless.

"What are their names?" Luca turns and asks me.

"Oh, they're called Thomas and Rita." I replied quickly, I must admit I almost forgot their names for a moment.

I see his face fill with a very mild sense of sorrow, but still noticeable, for only a moment, before he looks fine again.

The strong and confident buildings begin to dwindle as we begin to reach the outskirts of the city, we turn down a winding road which presents us with a large, pine built house. I could recognise this house from anywhere, those late nights up watching the clouds cover the sun up and down. They were never really strict with bedtimes, so Mabel and I loved it when we were little. We used to have this little game where I'd build a fort, and she would try to break it down, naturally she always did, but it was always good fun building it, back when she actually spoke to me a lot that is.

The car engine ceases and we all step out, strolling up the old gravel path to the little wooden staircase up the house.

Mum only has to give 2 knocks before the door flies open.

"Aaah! Jane!" My grandad exclaims, hugging my mum.

"Hey dad!" Mum laughs in return.

"Looks like you've doubled your kin since we last spoke, eh?" He continues, looking at us. "Well, no time for that now, come on in!"

I and Mabel step inside with mum while Luca and James hesitantly follow, I notice James is clinging on to Luca's arm.

"Don't worry, they won't bite!" I say as I turn to them.

They both respond with a small smile, and we continue into the house.

We walk into the ever familiar living room with the large oak mantelpiece in the corner of the room.

"Hello!" I hear my nan chirp from her armchair.

"Hi Grams!" I chirp back happily.

"Oh... Oscar Michael Jacobs, stop growing will you, I swear by the time I next see you'll be as tall as your sister!" She replies.

For some reason, Nan likes to use my full name a lot of the time, to be fair she does it with everyone! Must be an old person thing!

"In his dreams." Mabel chirps in with a chuckle.

That's when she turns her attention to Luca and James.

"Oh! You must be Luca and James, well, I've heard a lot about you two!" She says to them.

"Bad choice picking this family!" My grandad laughs sarcastically.

We all take our seats, the room seems bright yet dull.

"I must say it's odd seeing a Shadownite in person, you both must think it's bloody boiling with this big sun all the time, eh?" My grandad asks Luca and James.

"Well... sort of, but you get used to it!" Luca replies

"Yeah, I've heard you've had a good start at school, Luca, do you get stopped in the halls like a celebrity?" Grandad asks.
