Freen's POV

"So everyone, that settles this incident. The perpetrator will be held accountable," the HR Manager announced to the crowd, then nodded toward Becky.

"If anything unusual happens or you have any concerns, please report them to our HR office instead of creating a commotion in the workplace," Becky declared with full authority, her tone firm yet compassionate. "Remember, we are an advertising company. It's a shame if we can't take care of our own image."

I felt proud of her and smiled from the crowd. But when she met my eyes, she didn't return the smile, which made me wonder why. Was she in a bad mood because of what had happened? I couldn't blame her if that was the case.

As the crowd slowly dispersed, group by group, I stayed behind, wanting to check on Becky. I walked toward her, and she gently pulled me to the side. "We need to talk. Can you join me in my office?" she asked, her tone filled with concern.

Thoughts ran through my mind. Was there a problem? If so, what could it be? I followed her without question. As we entered the elevator, Becky pressed the button for the 5th floor where her office was located, but she immediately retreated to the corner, as if wanting to stay away from me.

"What's wrong, Becky?" I softly asked.

"I'll tell you in my office," Becky replied, her tone cold and distant.

The elevator ride felt unusually long, the silence between us thick with unspoken tension. When we finally arrived at her office, Becky closed the door behind us and gestured for me to sit. She remained standing, her arms crossed, looking more troubled than I had ever seen her.

"Becky, what's going on?" I asked, my concern growing with each passing second.

She took a deep breath, her eyes filled with a mix of hurt and anger. "I saw the CCTV footage from last Thursday," she began, her voice trembling slightly. "I saw Friend and Billy in the elevator... and I saw you witnessing it."

My heart sank. "Becky, I..."

She held up a hand to stop me. "Let me finish," she said, her voice steady but emotional. "I can't believe you saw them and didn't tell me. Even yesterday, when I told you I was thinking of giving Friend another chance, you said nothing."

I felt a wave of guilt wash over me. "I didn't know how to tell you..."

"You should have just told me, plain and simple. I poured my heart out to you, and you didn't say a word. Do you know how that makes me feel? I feel disregarded, not taken into consideration, and betrayed by a friend, an important one at that. It hurts more knowing you kept it from me," Becky said, her voice breaking.

I was speechless, torn between the relief that she considered me an important friend and the devastation of knowing I had caused her pain.

She looked at me, her eyes filled with hurt. "Were you even planning to tell me? Or would you just let me get back with her even if you knew she was fooling around with someone else?"

"Yes, Becky, I was going to tell you," I said immediately, frantically searching my bag. When I found what I was looking for, I placed a small piece of paper on the table. "And of course I wouldn't want you going back to her. Frankly speaking, I don't think she deserves you. I will protect you as much as I can, but I will also respect your decision."
