It had been a week since I'd went to Seth for help. It had been hard at first, but slowly I'd gotten over what happened. I'd stopped drinking and even if it wasn't much of a milestone, I was one week sober.

Seth and I'd talked through everything and we'd made up. We were doing better than ever and I was glad that Julie Cooper of all people had given me a wake-up call before our relationship had spiraled.

I sat at the table with Seth, Kirsten, Ryan and Sandy. We'd just finished eating dinner and Kirsten had turned out to be an amazing cook.

"Baby you did it again, another amazing meal." Sandy stated as he sat down his fork.

"My pleasure." Kristen said with a grin, then glanced to Ryan and I.

"Do you two have any requests for your birthday on Sunday?" She asked.

I felt my eyes widen. Had I really forgotten my own 18th birthday?

"Ally did you really forget?" Seth asked seeing the look on my face.

"Yeah. I can't believe I forgot." I stated.

"And it's certainly a crazy birthday to forget, because it's not just any other birthday. It's the eighteenth birthday. Ryan and Ally are becoming fully enfranchised citizens of this great democratic experiment we call America." Sandy said and I laughed at the way he said it.

"Yes we all know you went to law school. The important thing is we need to have a party." Seth told Ryan and I.

Ryan and I exchanged a quick look. The last birthday party we'd had ended with our mother downing an entire bottle of wine and tripping into the cake. We'd pretty much sworn off big birthday parties after that.

"Mmn. No-no party." Ryan stated and I nodded. "Yeah birthday parties don't end well for us."

"But you two are turning eighteen! That's huge!" Seth protested.

"It's just another year." Ryan stated and I nodded, once again agreeing with him.

"Oh I disagree. I remember when I turned eighteen I couldn't wait to vote in my first election!" Sandy told us.

"My little eagle scout." Kirsten stated, making me grin at Seth, who looked horrified.

"Yeah and if you two cross Johnny Law, no more of that daycare Juvie. It's gonna be hard time in the big house." Seth stated and I glanced at Ryan, who made a face.

"Yeah that's something to celebrate." Ryan muttered.

"What do you two have against birthdays?" Seth asked us and I sighed.

"Nothing it's just the last birthday party we had was when we were nine and our mom drunkenly fell into our cake and tried to seduce the party clown."

There was an awkward silence and then Seth glanced at Sandy.

"You maybe wanna tag in here?"

"Look, you two, this is one of life's milestones. It'd be a mistake to blow past it."

Ryan and I shared a look and then I nodded.

"Alright, as long as it's small." Ryan stated and I grinned. "Small, Seth. Small." I reminded him, knowing how overboard he could go.

"I got ya. It would only have to be us and Summer and Ben and-" Seth trailed off before saying Marissa's name.

"Marissa and I are broken up." Ryan told him.

Apparently the breakup had happened over the weekend when Ryan had gone on a road trip with Sadie to help save her aunt's house.

"I'm gonna do some homework." Ryan said before walking off.
