I walked towards the stairs at school, watching as Taylor directed students in hanging a banner that read 'Sweatshirt Bonfire.'
Ryan, Seth and I walked past her and she noticed us.
"Oh hey you guys, I'm so glad to see you."
"Hi Taylor." I greeted with a smile.
"Have you spoken to Marissa lately?"
"Not unless you count us trading insults, then no."
"Well I need to talk to her about the college sweatshirt bonfire. You guys are coming right?"
"Is that the thing where all the seniors wear the sweatshirts of the colleges they're attending , cause that always struck me as incredibly lame." Seth stated and I smacked him on the arm.
"Oh and I need your help handing out these fliers." Taylor stated holding out a stack of fliers. Before she could hand Seth and Ryan any, they said they had to go. I rolled my eyes and turned back to Taylor.
"Anyway, about Marissa.."
"I wouldn't count on her." I told Taylor, who scoffed.
"Well that's great. She's supposed to get the food for the party, this is so typical. You know people join social committee they think it's all fun and games. Then who ends up doing the work when someone decides to go all Last Exit to Brooklyn? Taylor, that's who."
"I think she's just going through something right now." I defended.
As Taylor dialed a number and began talking to someone about catering for the party, I glanced over. Marissa walked in, making eye contact with me before looking away and walking off. I sighed, wondering when we could just be friends again.

I walked into the kitchen, taking a deep breath as I saw the thick Brown envelope sitting on the counter.I walked over and picked up my envelope and ripped it open. As I read the letter, I felt a smile stretch across my face. I couldn't believe I'd gotten in.
I looked up as Ryan walked in, also wearing a huge smile.
"You got in?" I asked him.
"Yeah. You?"
"I got in!" I said, running towards him and hugging him.
Who would have ever thought that Ryan and I would have a chance to go to college?
"We did it, Ry, I can't believe it."
"I'm so proud of you." Ryan told me and I grinned.
"I'm proud of both of us."
I looked over as Seth walked into the room.
"Seth..." I started as I saw the look on his face.
"I didn't get in."
"Seth I'm so sorry."
"I'm sorry, man." Ryan stated.
"It's fine. I'm happy for you two."
"Seth, we'll apply to somewhere else together. It'll be fine."
"No, you got into Brown, Ally. You're not going somewhere else just because of me."
"So you expect me to just be without you?"
"Ally, going to Brown is the opportunity of a lifetime. You can't give that up over me."
"But I don't want to go without you." I said sadly.
"I know, but you have to."
I felt tears come to my eyes as I thought of being so far away from Seth and at Brown by myself.
