The taxi arrived soon, a few minutes after calling it. Taehyung got on it with a grim face, tired of the hours he had spent sitting in the office fixing all kinds of designs, cursing budgets, complaining about the rich people that treated him like shit asking for the dumbest of things.
He rubbed his nose between sighs, still not having enough energy to do anything more than ask for directions and how much the trip was. The only thing he wanted was to fade away on the couch at home, but then his head played a trick on him.
The same trick that materialized when he opened the door to his apartment.
"Tae...here you are!" Jimin stopped kissing Chaewon and got up from the couch to go greet his friend. The girl in the room looked visibly blushed and uncomfortable, wearing only pajamas.
"Don't worry, I'll go to sleep now...nice to see you Chaewon-ah." His words came out of Taehyung's mouth as if his tongue was wrapped in duct tape: too slurred to understand, a little painful. Chaewon covered herself on the couch with the sheet that was on the floor and smiled, then distracted herself on her phone.
That was already part of the routine, one that Taehyung couldn't blame his best friend for; After all, he had already been with his girlfriend for two years, too long for him to continue pretending that it wasn't awkward for the two of them to live together, especially considering that Taehyung always came back at night, and Jimin always liked to do things on the couch.
Jimin followed his friend into the room and closed the door laughing, excusing himself with his girl.
"I'm sorry, I couldn't stop her...I thought you'd be late and I'm really sorry." Was the first thing he said, covering his unbuttoned shirt.
"No, it's ok." Taehyung took off his jacket and pulled out his sleepwear. "I'm the one in the way here." He sat on his bed after changing, his friend accompanied him there too after noticing how tremendously tired he looked.
"Is this Lee guy still causing problems?" The question was innocent, but Taehyung couldn't help but growl when he remembered that name.
"Definitely."
Jimin stated more to himself than to his friend, as he watched the man next to him collapse on his bed.
"Why are you still there if it's so tedious? Wouldn't you do better in something far from urban design?"
Taehyung rubbed his face and looked at him like he was crazy.
"You know very well that it is not easy to do it without experience; until I have it, I couldn't leave there... at least a year or two." He spoke in whispers, the language of the average worker with apathy to the near future.
Jimin laid down with him. Both, looking at the ceiling, shared the silence.
"I'll move out soon if you want." Taehyung admitted, covering his face with his arm; Jimin next to him smiled.
"Chaewon and I got engaged," the news made Taehyung jump up and look at him "you were too busy to mention it," Jimin explained with a smile, letting his best friend return to the bed to continue "she wants us to move to a house of our own to have children, so I told her that then we can charge you rent if you want to keep this place...for being my friend I would give you a special price."
Taehyung let out a light chuckle.
"And for godfather of your children, there is no additional discount?"
Jimin punched him lightly and shook his head. His breathing calmed again.
"You didn't tell me anything about the date with Minhoo..." Remembering the topic, Taehyung groaned and wrinkled his face, Jimin, next to him, laughed, "again..."
