Chapter Nine: Capture the Flag

~TenTen's POV~

Each team was in position all around the spacious beach, in total there were four teams, ours, and of course three others. The beach has four main parts to it, the rental shop, the lounge chairs, the kayaks, and then the showers. Each team was positioned in one spot, where they'd hide their flag and have guards and whatnot.

Our team was assigned to the showers, which basically was a tall water fountain on a log without the metal dish -.- easy. Neji and Sasuke were the ones who decided where to hide the small gopher flag within our base. Basically they rolled up the bright green nylon part and then taped it to the pipe where the log and pipe are almost touching.

Next we have our offense and defense 'squads'. Guarding our flag, armed with the liquid-filled balloons, was decided to be Hinata, Ino, Shikamaru, Temari, Naruto, and Sasame. May I just say that it FREAKIN SUCKS! Sure that squad would be fine if Temari and Sasame didn't hate Ino and Hinata's guts for just talking to Shikamaru and Naruto! Talk about clingy-not-even-girlfriends. Okay now onto the offensive squad. That's me ^.^, Neji, Lilly, Sakura, Sasuke, and Karin. Again the squad could be good if it weren't for the same situation but just with other people. Le sigh.

The 30 second countdown begins as our offensive squad gets in position. The goal is to get as many flags as possible by keeping as many team members 'alive' as you can. Each balloon (every person carries five) is mixed with paint so if your hit, you'll know, and if you are hit you have to sit out and watch the rest of the game play out.

10 seconds.

I physically prepare myself for what the next thirty minutes may bring while looking among my teammates.

5 seconds.

While looking at our group I see Karin, Temari, Lilly, and Sasame all nod to eachother. What are they planning?

0 seconds. The whistle blows as we all sprint off down the sandy terrain. We made a plan to head towards the closest group first. Which is the rental shop team.

Running up to the wooden shack we stealthily duck below the counter and hear the shuffling from inside. Me, being the amazingly cool person I am, bravely peek over the edge to see six of the defensive team members all around. Smirking at my luck, I see that half the group were facing away from me and leaning against the main entrance as a barricade while the other half do the same to the back door, also facing away from me.

Gesturing with my tan hand we all peek up over the counter and try to find the neon red flag. In a few minutes a pale hand points up somewhere in the shack, that hand belonging to Sakura. We all follow her line if vision and I see the flag, with the fabric wrapped up like ours, stuck in a rope net among the varying other items like starfish and a life preserver.

"What do we do" I ask in a low whisper so that no one inside can hear me.

"Here's the plan. Sakura will be the one to get the flag but only because she'll be a test subject! We can see if she's useful as a team captain" Karin suggests evilly

"We're not sacrificing Sakura if that's what you're asking" Neji replies

"No, I'm fine with it" Sakura shrugs earning our wide eyes stares, besides Sasuke of course.

Sakura quickly checks to see if the people inside are still facing away before she crouches higher and backs away a few feet. Then she quietly runs and dives over the counter. But to our surprise she lands in a soundless roll and stands up. Just as quietly she plucks off the red flag and turns to dive back over when something happens.

"HOW DARE YOU YOU LITTLE ERRGG!!!!! WE ARE TEAMMATES RETARF OR DID THAT NEVER OCCUR TO YOUR WALNUT SIZED BRAIN? WELL COME ON HINATA, I GUESS WE HAVE TO GO SIT OUT THEN!" And enraged Ino screams.

The defense squad of the shack turn to look at each other but in the process see Sakura standing there with their flag in hand.

"Hehe, sup" The pinkette gives a slight wave before diving over the counter where we all start running.

"Karin, that was our cue from Sasame and Temari, operation 31 days of hell begins now" I hear Lilly whisper to Karin, who's right beside me.

After a few seconds Karin and Lilly both stop, resulting in the other four if us to stop and look back at them.

And then. Karin threw a paint filled water balloon at Sakura, getting her unable to continue the game, and then Lilly does the same to me. Good thing we're basically telepathic twins (not) because the next thing Sakura and I said, were not pretty, but in complete unison;

"WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK?!"
