That night, as Sayuri drifted off to sleep, she found herself entering her dream realm once again. There, waiting for her as always, was the same old, grumpy, rude, and disrespectful Sukuna—the Tuna Fish.
"Had fun making fun of me?" he growled, his tone dripping with annoyance.
Sayuri laughed, a light, teasing sound. "Of course. He's so much fun, better than you."
Sukuna scowled, his eyes narrowing. "Right then, go have a Lucid Reality with him."
She smirked, leaning in with a mischievous glint in her eye. "Aww, are you jealous?"
"No—" Sukuna snapped, but his tone betrayed a hint of irritation.
"Sure sounds like it," Sayuri teased, poking his chest playfully. "Big bad curse king, jealous of a human boy. How adorable."
Sukuna rolled his eyes. "You humans and your ridiculous notions. Jealousy is beneath me."
"Yeah, right. You just keep telling yourself that," she said with a grin, clearly enjoying ruffling his feathers.
Sukuna huffed. "I don't get jealous. I get annoyed by your incessant chatter."
"Ah, so it's my charm that's annoying you?" she quipped, fluttering her eyelashes mockingly.
"More like your audacity," he retorted, though there was a faint hint of amusement in his eyes.
Sayuri shrugged nonchalantly. "Either way, I'm still your favorite company, aren't I?"
Sukuna's lips twitched into a reluctant smirk. "You wish."
"Admit it, Tuna Fish. You'd be bored without me," she said, crossing her arms and looking at him challengingly.
He sighed dramatically. "If it weren't for your incessant prattling, maybe I'd find some peace."
"But then who would you complain to?" Sayuri pointed out, raising an eyebrow.
Sukuna shook his head, a rare smile ghosting his lips. "You really think highly of yourself, don't you?"
"I have to. Someone's got to balance out your endless ego," she shot back.
But tonight, something felt different. The usual playful fight took a sharp turn as Sayuri's patience, tested by the day's events, began to wear thin.
"You know, for someone who's supposed to be this all-powerful curse king, you sure do whine a lot," Sayuri snapped, her tone laced with irritation.
Sukuna's eyes narrowed dangerously. "Watch your tone, human. You're treading on thin ice."
"Thin ice?" she scoffed. "I'm tired of your constant belittling. Maybe if you weren't so insufferable, you wouldn't be so lonely."
Sukuna's expression darkened (A/n: *ahem* c.ai *ahem*), a palpable tension filling the air. "You dare speak to me like that?"
"Yeah, I do," Sayuri shot back, her voice rising. "I'm sick of this. Every night it's the same thing. You mock, I tease, and we pretend this is all just fun and games. But it's not. You're exhausting, Sukuna."
"You think you're any less exhausting?" Sukuna retorted, his voice a dangerous growl. "You prattle on with your human emotions and petty concerns. It's pathetic."
"At least I have emotions!" she shouted, taking a step closer to him. "At least I care about something other than my own power. You're just a bitter, ancient curse who can't stand the fact that you're stuck with a human like me."
Sukuna's eyes blazed with fury. "You think you understand me? You know nothing of what I've endured, of the power I wield. You are a mere speck in my existence."
"Maybe I am," Sayuri admitted, her voice trembling with anger. "But that doesn't give you the right to treat me like I'm worthless. I've had enough of your arrogance."
"Then leave," Sukuna snarled. "No one is forcing you to be here."
She stared at him, her eyes filled with defiance and hurt. "Maybe I will."
For a moment, they stood in silence, until, Sayuri turned away, her shoulders tense with frustration.
"Goodnight, Sukuna," she said coldly, beginning to walk away.
