Or don't.------------------
The sun had begun to set, casting a warm orange glow over the quiet landscape. Yuji sat on the porch of a small cabin, watching the sky shift into hues of purple and pink. He let out a content sigh, leaning back on his hands. It had been a long, exhausting day of training, but the peace of the evening was worth it.
Footsteps behind him broke the silence. Sukuna, in his own body now, approached with a slight frown. He was still adjusting to having his own form after being separated from Yuji, and while he wouldn't admit it, the transition had its challenges.
"What are you sulking about now, Sukuna?" Yuji grinned, glancing over his shoulder.
Sukuna grumbled as he plopped down next to Yuji on the porch, crossing his arms over his chest. "I'm not sulking, brat. Just enjoying the silence away from your constant chatter."
"Uh-huh, sure." Yuji chuckled, unfazed by Sukuna's gruff demeanor. There was a time when his uncle's sharp tone and intimidating presence would have unnerved him, but now...it felt oddly comforting.
For a while, they sat in silence, the cool breeze ruffling their hair. Yuji leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees, feeling the last warmth of the sun on his face. He wasn't sure when it happened, but somewhere along the way, he had started to feel safe around Sukuna. Maybe it was because they were family now, really family. Not just bound by a cursed fate, but by something deeper.
Sukuna huffed and leaned back, stretching out his legs. His frown deepened as he shifted uncomfortably. "This body feels strange," he muttered. "Too different from yours. Too...separate."
Yuji laughed softly, turning to face him. "You miss being stuck with me?"
"Don't get ahead of yourself, brat," Sukuna shot back, though his tone lacked the usual edge. "I just don't like how short you look now. You were easier to keep an eye on when I was in your head." (A/n: Yeah Sukuna got taller)
Yuji blinked, then smiled, a warm feeling blooming in his chest. "You looked out for me?"
"Don't start." Sukuna gave him a side glance, clearly regretting saying anything.
Without warning, Yuji shifted closer, wrapping his arms around Sukuna in a tight hug. "You big softie!"
Sukuna stiffened at the contact, eyes widening in surprise. "Oi, what are you doing?"
"Cuddling you, duh." Yuji laughed, squeezing tighter. "You can't just go around saying stuff like that and not expect a hug."
Sukuna looked like he might protest, but after a moment, he let out a long-suffering sigh and relaxed, albeit awkwardly, into Yuji's embrace. "You're insufferable," he muttered, but his words didn't match the fact that he hadn't pushed Yuji away.
Yuji grinned, resting his head against Sukuna's chest, feeling the steady rise and fall of his uncle's breathing. "Yeah, but you like me."
Sukuna rolled his eyes but didn't bother denying it. Instead, he brought a hand up and hesitantly, almost awkwardly, patted Yuji's head. "Don't get used to this, brat."
Yuji closed his eyes, a peaceful smile on his face. "Too late."
The two of them sat like that for a while, the sounds of the evening filling the space between them. Sukuna's hand eventually settled in Yuji's hair, resting there as the tension seemed to melt from his posture. Despite his constant grumbling, there was something about the quiet moments like this that even Sukuna couldn't resist.
