As Sayuri Gojo, Noritoshi Kamo, and Mai Zenin strolled outside the school grounds, the atmosphere was heavy with the weight of their discussion. They were deeply engrossed in the grave matter of the curse cult that had recently kidnapped Sayuri. The cult was rumored to have unregistered special grades in uncountable numbers, along with both special and grade-one sorcerers. The higher-ups had been secretly discussing this threat with other curse users long before Sayuri's kidnapping.
"How do you even know all this, Mai?" Noritoshi asked, his tone a mix of skepticism and curiosity.
Mai smirked, her eyes glinting with mischief. "Oh, you know, just a little eavesdropping. I happened to 'overhear' Principal Gakuganji talking on the phone."
Sayuri raised an eyebrow. "Overheard? Or did you deliberately sneak around to gather intel?"
Mai shrugged nonchalantly. "Details, details. What's important is that we now know the higher-ups have been aware of this cult for a while. They just didn't bother to tell us."
Noritoshi frowned, his usual stoic expression darkening. "So they knew about the threat and still let you get kidnapped, Sayuri? That's unacceptable."
Sayuri sighed, rubbing her temples. "Welcome to the world of Jujutsu politics. The higher-ups think they're playing chess with our lives as their pieces."
Mai crossed her arms, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Yeah, because nothing says 'we care about our students' like keeping crucial information a secret. Maybe next time they'll just send us an email after someone dies."
Noritoshi nodded, his tone equally sardonic. "Right, or maybe they'll host a 'Congratulations on Surviving Another Day' party. With cake and everything."
Sayuri chuckled despite the seriousness of the situation. "I can see the invitation now: 'Join us for a celebration of your continued existence. Please RSVP if you're still breathing.'"
Mai rolled her eyes, but there was a hint of a smile on her lips. "Honestly, it's infuriating. They're supposed to protect us, yet they treat us like expendable assets."
Noritoshi clenched his fists, his anger barely contained. "We need to be proactive. We can't rely on the higher-ups to have our backs. If these curse users are as strong as they say, we need to prepare ourselves."
Sayuri nodded, determination flashing in her eyes. "Agreed. We train harder, stay vigilant, and most importantly, we watch each other's backs. We're stronger together, and that's something they can't take from us."
Mai's expression softened slightly as she looked at her friends. "You know, for all the crap we go through, at least we have each other. And if that cult thinks they can mess with us again, they're in for a rude awakening."
Noritoshi smirked, his resolve evident. "Let them come. We'll be ready. And next time, they'll regret underestimating us."
As if on cue, their conversation was interrupted by the sudden appearance of five curses. Sayuri immediately recognized two of them as the garde ones who had tortured her. The other three appeared to be semi-grade ones or twos, not as powerful but still formidable.
Mai pulled out her gun with ease, a determined glint in her eyes. "Looks like we're having a live demonstration of our skills," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
Noritoshi readied his Blood Manipulation technique, a fierce expression on his face. "Let's show them what happens when they mess with us."
Sayuri, her eyes narrowing with a cold fury, prepared her Death Manipulation technique but decided to rely on her martial arts skills for the moment. "Let's make them regret ever crossing paths with us."
