Charlotte
As the morning of qualifying arrives, my mind buzzes with anticipation for the day ahead—qualifying and my date with Logan. I groan softly, wiping away sleep as sunlight filters through the curtains of our hotel room.
"Morning," I mumble to Mick, who chuckles softly as he sits at the desk.
"Morning," he replies cheerfully, glancing up from his laptop.
I roll out of bed, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. I reach for one of the sundresses I've collected during our travels, settling on a vibrant blue one today. Stepping into the bathroom, I freshen up quickly before emerging, grabbing Mick's sunglasses from the counter and tossing them on along with my paddock pass.
"Ready for another thrilling day at the track?" Mick asks with a grin as he watches me get ready.
"Absolutely," I reply, flashing a smile.
"It's going to be a busy one." He says
After a quick breakfast in the hotel restaurant, we head to the paddock. The air is alive with the familiar buzz of race weekend preparations—engines revving in the distance, teams setting up in their garages, and media personnel milling about. I catch glimpses of familiar faces and exchange greetings with other drivers' and some of their girlfriends as we make our way through the bustling paddock.
Qualifying sessions begin, and I find myself drawn into the adrenaline and intensity of the track. Mick sits poised in the garage watching nervously as the cars zoom by, each lap crucial for the grid position tomorrow.
As the sessions progress, I steal glances at the timing screens, cheering inwardly each time the Mercedes drivers improve their lap times. Despite the nerves, there's an undercurrent of excitement for the evening ahead—my date with Logan. It's a welcome distraction amidst the hustle of race day, a chance to unwind and enjoy a different kind of thrill.
After Mick finishes his duties in the garage, we meet briefly in the paddock. He gives me an encouraging smile before heading off for debriefing with the team. I take a moment to gather myself before heading to a quiet spot near the hospitality area, where I can check my phone and catch up on messages.
As I scroll through, I notice a text from Logan.
Logan
Hey Charlotte,
looking forward to tonight. Still good for dinner?I smile to myself, typing a quick reply.
Charlotte
Absolutely! Can't wait. 😊With a sense of excitement building in my chest, I tuck my phone away and head back to the paddock. The rest of the qualifying day passes in a blur of adrenaline, anticipation, and preparations for the evening ahead.
As Mick and I arrive back at the hotel, I'm filled with a mix of nerves and excitement about my upcoming date with Logan. Racing thoughts about what to wear and how the evening will unfold swirl in my mind as we make our way to our room.
"I'll meet you back here later," Mick says, flashing a supportive smile before heading towards his own room.
"Thanks, Mick," I reply, grateful for his understanding and encouragement.
Once inside our room, I quickly set about getting ready. I opt for a sleek black dress that strikes the right balance between casual and elegant, paired with comfortable heels. As I apply a touch of makeup and fix my hair, I can't help but feel a rush of anticipation for the evening ahead.
Glancing at the clock, I realize it's almost time to meet Logan. With a final adjustment to my outfit, I grab my essentials and head downstairs to the hotel lobby where we agreed to meet. The atmosphere in the lobby is buzzing with guests coming and going, but I easily spot Logan waiting near the entrance.
"Hey, Logan," I greet him with a smile as I approach.
"Hey, Charlotte," he replies warmly, his eyes lighting up as he takes in my appearance. "You look amazing."
"Thank you," I blush slightly, feeling a surge of happiness at his compliment.
"Shall we go?" he asks, gesturing towards the exit.
"Definitely," I nod eagerly, falling into step beside him as we make our way out of the hotel.
Together, we decide to explore a nearby restaurant that Logan had heard good things about. The conversation flows effortlessly between us, covering everything from racing anecdotes to shared interests and personal stories. It's easy being with him.
As we finish our meal, Logan suggests taking a stroll along the waterfront, enjoying the cool evening breeze and the lights reflecting on the water. We talk and laugh, lost in the moment as we walk back towards the hotel.
"I had a great time tonight," Logan says sincerely, slowing his pace slightly as we approach the hotel entrance.
"Me too," I admit, a smile tugging at my lips. "Thank you for tonight, Logan."
He stops walking, turning to face me with a gentle expression. "Anytime, Charlotte."
The warmth in his voice sends a pleasant shiver down my spine. Before I can respond, he surprises me by reaching out to gently tuck a loose strand of hair behind my ear. My heart skips a beat as our eyes meet, a silent understanding passing between us.
"I'll see you tomorrow?" he asks softly, his hand lingering for a moment before he reluctantly pulls away.
"Yeah," I reply, feeling a rush of anticipation for what tomorrow might bring.
With a final smile, Logan bids me goodnight as we enter the hotel. As I ride the elevator to my floor, I can't help but replay the evening in my mind, a sense of happiness and hope settling in my heart.
So, how was it?" Mick asked, grinning like a gossipy teen as i walked into our hotel room.
I chuckled, shaking my head at his playful demeanor. "It was really nice, Mick. We went to this amazing restaurant near the waterfront, and then we took a walk afterward."
Mick raised an eyebrow teasingly. "Just a walk?"
I playfully nudged him. "Yes, Mick, just a walk. We talked a lot, though. It was... nice."
"Nice, huh?" Mick smirked. "That sounds promising."
"Yeah," I nodded, feeling a warm smile spread across my face as I recalled the evening. "It was."
Mick gave me a knowing look before settling onto his bed. "Well, I'm glad it went well. You deserve some happiness."
"Thanks, Mick," I said sincerely, feeling grateful for his support. "How was your evening?"
He shrugged. "Quiet. Watched some TV. You know, the usual."
I nodded, glancing at my phone and realizing it was later than I thought. "Well, I better get some sleep. Race day is tomorrow."
"Yeah, good idea," Mick agreed, grabbing the remote to turn off the TV. "See you in the morning, Charlotte."
"Night, Mick," I replied, slipping into bed and closing my eyes, thoughts of Logan and our evening together lingering pleasantly in my mind.
