Charlotte
The next morning, I wake up to the gentle sound of rain tapping against the window. The room is cool and dim, a perfect contrast to the warmth of Logan's embrace. I lay there for a few moments, enjoying the peaceful stillness before gently slipping out of bed, careful not to wake him.
In the kitchen, I start making breakfast. The smell of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling bacon fills the apartment, eventually coaxing Mick out of his room.
"Morning," he says with a sleepy smile, stretching as he walks into the kitchen.
"Morning," I reply, handing him a cup of coffee. "Did you sleep well?"
"Like a rock," he says, taking a sip and sighing contentedly. "Thanks for making breakfast."
"No problem," I say, flipping the bacon. "Logan should be up soon."
A few minutes later, Logan walks into the kitchen, rubbing his eyes and looking adorable with his messy hair. "Morning," he says, his voice still husky from sleep.
"Morning," I reply with a smile. "I made breakfast."
"You're amazing," he says, kissing my forehead. "How are you feeling?"
"Surprisingly good," I admit. "A little tired, and a headache but worth it."
We sit down and enjoy our breakfast together, chatting about the night's highlights and laughing at the funnier moments.
After breakfast, we clean up the kitchen and decide to spend the morning lounging around. Logan and Mick dive into a video game, their competitive spirits making for some entertaining moments. I curl up on the couch with a book, the sounds of their playful banter providing a comforting background.
"Sooo, what's the plan for the week?" I ask, putting my book down flat on the table.
"Well, I have a few meetings with my trainer, but other than that, nothing really," Logan says.
"I have a few meetings with the team this week, so I'm here," Mick says, keeping his eyes on the TV.
"When am I ever gonna get informed of these things?" I question, laughing.
"Surprised you still haven't picked up on my schedule after being my friend for so long," Mick glares at me jokingly.
"Hey, it's not my fault your schedule is so confusing, especially since it's changed multiple times in the past three years," I say, picking up my phone and checking my notifications. Nothing except a few Twitter notifications, a few emails, and a few text messages, which I quickly respond to.
"I'm still confused about when you two met, honestly," Logan says, putting his controller down and looking at us.
Mick and I exchange glances, trying to figure out how to tell the story.
"Well, obviously, you know about my dad," I begin. "Basically, he and Michael were friends. So they were all at my dad's celebration of life and wake. Mick and I were really the only people our age there, so we started talking and hit it off. We've been friends ever since."
Logan nods. "That makes more sense now."
Logan leans back, a thoughtful expression crossing his face. "It's funny how connections work. You never know where you'll find the people who become important in your life."
Mick laughs, nudging Logan. "Yeah, who would have thought a wake would lead to such a strong friendship?"
"Life's strange that way," I agree. "It's all about being in the right place at the right time."
Logan looks at me, a soft smile playing on his lips. "I'm just glad we're all here now."
We spend the rest of the morning lounging around, the easy camaraderie between us making it feel like old times. As the rain continues to patter against the windows, the apartment becomes a cozy haven from the world outside.
"Okay, enough lazing around," I announce after a while. "Let's do something fun. Any ideas?"
Logan and Mick exchange glances, then turn to me with matching mischievous grins.
"How about we go go-karting?" Mick suggests. "I know a place nearby that's open rain or shine."
Logan's eyes light up. "That sounds perfect. What do you think, Charlotte?"
I laugh, shaking my head. "Of course you two want to race. But sure, why not? It could be fun."
An hour later, we're at the go-kart track, suited up and ready to race. The competitive spirit between Logan and Mick is palpable, and I can't help but feel a thrill of excitement myself.
"Ready to eat my dust?" Logan teases as we line up at the starting line.
"Bring it on," I reply, grinning.
The race is exhilarating, the three of us zipping around the track, laughter and playful taunts filling the air. For a while, it's just like old times, with no worries or pressures, just the simple joy of being together and having fun.
After several laps, Logan emerges as the winner, but only by a narrow margin. As we pull off our helmets, he's beaming with triumph.
"Looks like I've still got it," he says, playfully ruffling my hair.
"Yeah, yeah," I laugh. "Don't get too cocky."
Mick claps Logan on the back. "Good race, man. We'll get you next time."
We leave the track, our spirits high and our bond stronger than ever. As we walk back to the car, Logan falls into step beside me, his hand brushing against mine.
We drive back to the apartment, the city lights reflecting off the wet streets. The rain has stopped, leaving the air fresh and cool. As we pull into the driveway, I feel a sense of contentment wash over me. No matter where life takes us, days like this remind me that some things never change.
As we step out of the car and head inside, the warm glow of the apartment welcomes us back. Mick heads straight for the shower, leaving Logan and me alone in the living room. I join him on the couch and we chat for a while, me almost falling asleep in his arms Just then, Mick emerges from the shower, toweling off his hair. "Alright, what's next on the agenda?"
I laugh, pulling away from Logan but keeping his hand in mine. "How about a movie night? Something light and fun."
Mick grins. "Sounds perfect. I'll make the popcorn."
Logan and I settle back onto the couch as Mick heads to the kitchen. The cozy atmosphere, combined with the lingering excitement from the day's activities, creates a sense of perfect contentment.
As the movie starts, Logan wraps an arm around my shoulders, pulling me close. I rest my head against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. Mick returns with a bowl of popcorn, plopping down on the other side of the couch.
The movie plays, laughter filling the room as we relax in each other's company. It's moments like these that make all the hardships and separations worthwhile. The simple joy of being together, sharing experiences and creating new memories, is something I cherish deeply.
As the credits roll, I glance up at Logan, his eyes soft and filled with a warmth that mirrors my own feelings. Mick lets out a satisfied sigh, stretching his arms above his head.
"That was fun," Mick says, stifling a yawn. "But I think I'm ready to call it a night."
Logan nods in agreement. "Yeah, it's been a long day."
We all head to our respective rooms, the events of the day playing back in my mind. Before closing my door, Logan catches my eye, a silent promise of more moments like this to come. I smile, feeling a warmth spread through me.
As I climb into bed, I can't help but feel a sense of hope for the future and with that comforting thought, I drift off to sleep, dreaming of the endless possibilities that tomorrow might bring.
