After much counselling and arguing between Elrond and his youngest daughter, he finally agrees to allow her to travel alone to the Mirkwood forest to visit her friend Legolas and his father in their home for the first time. Unexpected troubles arise and she is forced to travel slower than intended and in Legolas' concern, he comes to her aid and helps her complete her journey to Mirkwood where she stays as a guest.

Feren and Lindir had been in correspondence as per mine and Legolas' request. I had never visited Legolas in Mirkwood before and i had only ever gotten to see him when he was visiting Rivendell. My father, Lord Elrond, was very protective of me and did not like my desire for adventure and lone travels. I went to Lindir in hopes that he could speak to my father in a way that i could not and when he spoke to my father, they agreed that he, being Lindir, and Feren, a guardsman in Thranduil's court, would be in contact to make sure that i would be safe.

"Father, are you really suggesting that you may allow me to travel to Mirkwood?" i asked as i came out from my hiding spot in my fathers private gardens.

"i was right to believe your sharp ears were lingering. your earnest desire has not shaken my concerns but i am bending in my disapprovals. I am sure you have heard my conditions already." he replied with a gentle smile. he was always more amused than upset when i eavesdropped.

"I asked Lindir to speak with you this evening. He came to check on me this evening as you requested and i spoke to him of my troubles. it was his suggestion to speak of other precautions but i did ask." i spoke.

"I am glad that you trust Lindir. he is a wise council and has convinced me to allow you to take your journey in solitude once we receive word back from Thranduil in the hands of his messenger, Feren."

"thank you, father." i said as i stepped towards him and he extended his arms to me for a hug.

as i came close, my father wrapped his arms around me and brought me closer in a fatherly embrace as he kissed the top of my head and held me close. "goodnight, my child. may you have a good nights rest and receive word soon."

"Goodnight, father."

the next day i awoke as the morning light shone into my room. there were distant voices in the air and i got out of bed and dressed myself before walking into the private gardens from my balcony.  as i came into view the two voices faded out as they turned to me.

"I heard you are visiting your elf prince soon." Aragorn said in a teasing voice as he smiled at me.

"he is not mine, Aragorn. just be glad he is not visiting again. i am sure you grow annoyed of his constant arrivals." i replied.

"you two are children." Arwen said as she rolled her eyes at us. Aragorn often spoke to me as if i was his baby sister. Arwen and i have known him for many many years and, while Arwen had grown to love him romantically, i only loved him as if he were my brother. one day he may be my brother but for now it had not come to pass.

"well. what were you two doing out here before i interrupted you?" i asked.

"that is none of your concern." Aragorn said.
