The five of them ran through the forest as flames chased after them. They didn't have time to ask questions. They needed to get to safety. Their need to find the Unaffected grew with each second they spent on the run.

Hydra wasn't going to stop chasing them. Aurora knew that. That's why she needed to get to Seanna to find Evelyn. Maybe even Octavia.

They ran with backpacks on their backs, running as fast as their legs would take them. The creature let out a roar and their fear, their adrenaline, shot up further.

They were going to die.

Eric tripped and stumbled to get caught up. Zyran caught on before the rest of them. "ERIC!" He screamed for him.

Aurora looked back. He wouldn't get up in time. Within seconds, she was at Eric's side. She watched as the flames drew toward her, but before they could touch her, she threw up a shield.

"Rory!" Zyran yelled for her.

"GO! DON'T STOP RUNNING!" She screamed. The flames raged on and she fell to her knees struggling to hold the barrier up.

Zyran and the others continued to run, but Eric's body suddenly convulsed. Then he was pushing himself up, interlocking his fingers with Aurora's. She turned to him, her face revealing how much effort and strength she was using to hold the shield up. To protect them.

"What are you doing?" She whispered, breathing heavily.

He said nothing. She could tell from the look in his eye that he wasn't the one in control.

The barrier grew. He was helping her, strengthening the barrier. She didn't understand how, but it was working.

She felt something, something deep inside of her, trigger. But it didn't hurt. If anything, she felt...relief. Relief like no other. She felt in control. Like she had the world in the palm of her hand. A burst of energy shot from her, wiping through the forest.

Zyran and the others felt it, slowing down. They looked back, but Eric and Aurora were nowhere in sight.

"Why isn't it chasing us?" Nara asked, glancing at the others. "Doesn't it want us all?"

"No..." Lina whispered. "They never wanted us in the first place."

"They want Aurora." Zyran stated. He seemed to be debating something. Finally, he uttered, "Fuck it." and took off running.

"ZYRAN!" Lina and Nara screamed for him.

Aurora watched as the creature flew back, leaving them, but she knew without a doubt that it'd be back. She collapsed to her knees, catching her breath. She had never felt such relief before. It felt amazing.

She felt a brush against her temple, turning as Eric brushed her ashen hair behind her ear. "Never be ashamed of the power you hold."

Her brows furrowed at his words, but then he was blinking and pulling away. She was right. It wasn't him.

But then her gaze drew to where the creature was coming back, screeching. "Go! Go!" She yelled, pushing them up and taking off. Zyran caught up with the two and they continued running. They made it to the exit of the woods as the creature let out another terrifying screech.

"Car!" Nara pointed out. They ran to the black SUV and jumped into it.

"Drive!" They yelled. Only problem was, Aurora was in the driver's seat.

"DRIVE!" Nara screamed, panicked.

"I DON'T KNOW HOW!" She screamed back, staring at the controls in confusion. "I'VE BEEN LOCKED UP FOR OVER A CENTURY AND A HALF!"

"AND YOU THOUGHT GETTING INTO THE DRIVER'S SEAT WAS THE BEST IDEA?!" Nara's voice went up an octave as she looked over her shoulder. She leaned forward, pressing the button to start the car and it rumbled to life. She pushed the gear stick into drive.

"How do I make this thing go?!"

"Gas!" Zyran yelled, pointing to the pedal.

Aurora slammed on it.

The car sped off down the road, swerving as Aurora tried to gain control of the car. Once she did, she found it relatively easy to drive, speeding down the road. She made a hard left turn, the car almost drifting.

"Aurora, I'd like to keep my life, okay?! Let's not treat this like it's Formula One!" Eric called from the backseat.

"I don't know what that is!" She yelled. "We need to figure out how the hell we're going to get rid of this thing."

"We're all going to die!" Nara cried, sinking into her seat with her hands over her head.

As Aurora drove over a hundred miles an hour down the barren roads, driving around the few cars that were on the roads, she thought about how she could kill it. She couldn't use her magic; she was stuck driving.

She made a harsh right, turning the car and struggling to keep it under control at its high speed. Nara made the decision to look out the back of the window and try to see the creature flying toward them.

"IS THAT A FUCKING DRAGON?!" She screamed.

"NARA!" Lina yelled, finally having enough. "STOP SCREAMING IN MY EAR!"

"THERE'S A DRAGON! DO DRAGONS EVEN EXIST?!"

"SHUT IT!" Lina slapped at her. Nara slapped her back. It broke out into a slap-fight, until Zyran finally broke it.

"Enough!"

Aurora looked ahead, finding a gas station. She had an idea.

"How do I stop this thing?"

"What?" Zyran asked.

"How do I stop this car?" She reiterated, glancing at him.

"Brake." He pointed to it. She nodded.

She watched through the mirror, waiting for the dragon to lower. She needed it low enough. She eased up off the gas pedal and just before the dragon could touch the car, she slammed on the brakes.

The car stopped and they watched as the dragon flew ahead of them, landing in the gas station. They all watched wide eyed as it tried to get up, but as it did, the gas station exploded.

"Okay, go. Go!" Zyran hastily put the car in reverse and she pressed down on the gas. She whipped the car back around and pushed the gear back up to the letter D. Then they were speeding back the way they came.
