To say Izuku was excited would have been a devistating understatement. He had spent weeks preparing and hyping up for the sports festival, and he was finally good to go. He was ready to fight anything Nezu threw at him. He wasn't sure whether he wanted to win or not, but he decided he'd figure it out as he went.

Izuku was standing next to Takara within a sea of students, each in the centre of the stadium and right in front of a stage. On the stage was Midnight - causing more than one student gasp at the fact that an R-rated hero was the one reffing the first years - who announced that a student would be picked to come and give a welcome speech, of sorts. Of course, that was always the person who came first in the hero course entrance exam. Izuku felt relieved that he hadn't gone for the hero course, just in case he got first and had to be up there instead.

"I just wanna say, I'm gonna win."

On second thought, never mind. Izuku could've done way better than that. Boos and jeers from both the audience and students rang out, and Kacchan simply stared with a bored pout and gave them all a thumbs down, only riling them up more. To any other person, he just seemed arrogant and cocky, sounding perfectly like the kind of delinquent student every staff and student alike despised. However, Izuku knew better.

Kacchan was backing himself into a corner.

He hopped off the stage down to his classmates, seemingly unamused, and Midnight quickly reeled the crowds back in the continue the festival. The pro wasted no time with announcing the first round- an obstacle race. She made it sound simple enough, saying that anything went so long as everyone stayed on course and nobody got maimed, but Izuku had no doubt in his mind that Nezu hadn't made it that easy.

After laying down some ground rules and warnings, Midnight ushered the first years towards a large gate off to the side of the stadium. Izuku's class ended up near 1-A, and Izuku heard Todoroki mutter something like 'the first sifting' under his breath. Three lights that sat utop the gate each flashed red one at a time, until the the last one flashed and they all simultaneously turned green as Zashi yelled 'START!!' from the booth he and Shota were observing from.

A chill was felt on everyone's feet and legs as Todoroki breathed, and Izuku just barely leapt into the air in time for a thick layer of ice to coat the ground- freezing everyone except a few in place. The bi-coloured boy himself skated past with the grace of someone with years of practice, leaving everyone behind him. Izuku grinned with delight. He followed Todoroki's example, except he stuck closer to the shadowed edges and nearer to the group to avoid attention.

It wasn't long until the first group of students came to the first obstacle, something Hizashi had lovingly named 'Robo Inferno'. It was basically a large amount of robots from the hero course practical portion of the entrance exam, except nobody got points for destroying them and they were meant to be avoided. Eh, Izuku didn't particularly pay attention when it came to what he should and shouldn't do.

So, naturally, Izuku reached behind him to grab his obnoxiously yellow backpack, quickly and subtly pulling out a special gun that shot bullets that had the same effect as an EMP. Still staying close to the wall, Izuku shot five bullets at the robots that got too close to him and neutralized each of them. They were likely permanently damaged, but Izuku figured he could deal with Majima-sensei after the festival.

Suddenly, Izuku heard an ear splitting crash! followed by panicked yelling. He immediately ran towards the sound, hoping nobody was hurt, when he saw what the cause was. Apparently, Todoroki had frozen the colossal zero pointer robots while they were off balance and trapped two students underneath. Izuku was starting to wonder about Todoroki's intelligence and sanity, since it was almost impossible that anyone could've survived that, and it had definitely been done on purpose.
