In Izuku's second week of school, he was called to Nezu's office just after lunch. He didn't know why, just heard the stout's voice over the speakers. He didn't trust it. Still, he wasn't one to go against the principal. So, he simply left the classroom with Majima-sensei's permission and went through the halls towards the office.
Just as he reached the large doors, he saw another person waiting there. Izuku was curious, so he called out to them.
"Hey." Izuku looked over the pink haired girl, recognising her quickly. He didn't remember whether she'd given him her name previously, but judging by her asking him to join her at "Hatsume Industries", he could take a guess as to what it was.
"Oh! Hi! Aren't you that kid from the other support class? The one that made those awesome goggles in the entrance exam?" She practically bounced on her feet, pointing finger guns at him with a wide smile.
"Y-yeah. I'm Taiyo Izuku, nice to meet you. Are you the girl who asked if I could join your company after school?"
"Yep, I'm Hatsume Mei!" She flashed him a grin, holding her hands behind her back while bending down a bit and leaning closer to him. Their faces were only centimetres apart, and the way she was studying Izuku like he was a potential invention was a little unnerving to him. Especially since she was over twenty centimetres taller than him.
Thankfully for the green bean, the doors of the office opened after a moment. Nezu was seated at his desk, watching with interest as Hatsume straightened up and turned to him. Izuku let out an inaudible sigh of relief, turning to face him as well.
"Ah, I see you've met already. Good. Please, come in and have a seat." He beckoned to the two chairs in front of his desk and the students stepped inside, the doors automatically closing behind them. They looked at each other and Izuku shrugged before they took their seats.
"Now, straight to business. I was wondering if you two would like to join class 1-A at USJ next week. I figured it might be a good place to test out some of your inventions in different environments and the time 1-A is going is the only time it's free." Nezu tilted his head slightly, paws cupping a teacup on his desk. Even with the disarming smile and curious expression, Izuku could see the analytical glint in his eyes.
"Why us?" Izuku didn't know what was going on in the principal's head, but he wasn't sure whether he trusted it. Logically, Nezu would never put a student in harm's way, much less place two somewhere with bad intentions. And, he never did anything on pure whim; there was always reasoning behind his every action and word.
There was a method in his madness.
So, what was it?
"Because you both have inventing and machinery skills above first year level. You seemed bored with the support lessons, so I thought I'd give you both a bit of fun." The principal took a sip of his tea, before letting the cup rest on its plate with a small plink.
"Any other reason?"
"No, it's simply for both your and my entertainment."
Izuku thought about his offer a bit more. There was definitely another reason he wasn't telling them about. The question was, what could he, or someone else, gain from two support course students joining a hero class? Perhaps it really just was for his entertainment; he'd never harm a student or teacher, but he'd definitely do things for his entertainment.
Evidence of this was when Majima-sensei was complaining about Erasure Head being upset that his coffee went missing. Only one person -or, chimera- was brave enough to steal Erasure Head's coffee.
"I accept." Izuku didn't let his eyes wander from Nezu as he saw the principal grin, only another tell that this was a bad idea. Still, he was curious.
"Me too. Ooh, think of all the tests I can run!" Hatsume agreed with the excitement of a child on Christmas, bouncing in her seat. Nezu clapped his paws, the grin settling into something more docile yet equally suspicious.
"Wonderful. So, next week Wednesday, you'll have to skip your morning classes and go straight to the bus waiting by the entrance of UA. You will ride with class 1-A and Erasure Head to the facility. If you're late, you will be left behind and take regular classes instead. Understood?"
"Yes, sir." Izuku and Hatsume spoke at the same time, one a bit more serious and the other filled with excitement.
"Good. Now, you may return to your classes." Nezu gestured to the doors, now open, before drawing another sip of his tea. The pair both got up, bowed and left the room without another word. Glancing back right before the doors shut, Izuku could see that Nezu looked quite chuffed. What about, he didn't want to know.
They both went in different directions, and Izuku had to rush a little to make it to the support class before it started, but made it just on time. He walked in silently and took his seat at his station next to Takara. Class went as normal, except Izuku got to build his own support items instead of the simple version the rest of the class did. He couldn't wait to test them out, and in his excitement Izuku might have almost blown himself up. Thankfully, nobody noticed his little mishap and he continued in silence. Aside from the occasional muttering, of course.
