Jeremiah
After listening to dad's voice lecturing me, I went up to my room and fell asleep. I woke up with the thought of kissing Amy again in my head. I couldn't help but wonder about the reason she was crying. I could tell that there was something she wasn't telling me, but I didn't want to push her into telling me anything she didn't want to tell me. I decided to call her best friend, Vanessa, hoping to get something since she probably know what's going on.
"What do you want?" She answered.
"Hey, it's jeremiah, and I was hoping you could tell me what happened to Amy today." I told her.
"Why not ask her yourself? She's my friend and if she wanted to tell you I'm pretty sure she would have. I'm not telling you anything, and by the way please do me a favor and just ask her out already." She said before hanging up the phone. I looked at the phone and rolled my eyes as if it was the one who wouldn't give me the information I was looking for. I got up and was about to do some school works when Austin charged up in my room,
"Hey, what's up man? What you doing in here?" He asked me jumping on the bed.
"About to do some school work. Why?" I asked him,.
"The guys are waiting for you on the field. Come on." He said standing up.
"I don't feel like playing football now." I told him.
"Oh come on, we'll play basketball instead." I don't know how long it took him to finally get me to agree on playing with him. I got dressed and went outside.
"So, what's going on with you and Amy? Ya'll seem to be really close." He said following my gaze at Amy's house.
"Nothing really, just giving her support, you know with her dad dying and everything." I said.
"Oh really? Dude why don't you just ask her out, I know how you feel about her and everyone can tell she likes you, you know half of the team plans on asking her out tomorrow? You better hurry." He said .
"You know I would if I could." I told him.
"Your dad doesn't have to know everything." He told me as we kept on walking.
"It wouldn't work man, you know it too, let's go." I told him thinking on how my dad would react if he knew how little respect I had for him.
As soon as I got to the court I was surprise of how many people were there and amongst them was Amy with her group of friends, other than that it looked as if the whole school was there but most of them were leaving.
"Now's your chance man." Austin whispered to me before walking away as I looked I saw Vanessa whispering something to Amy that made her laugh. I stood there looking until she turned around and looked at me. I smiled and waved expecting her to walk away from me, but she waved back and gave me a warm knowing smile. She was then pulled away by a group of girls. I shook my head and walked toward the guys on the court. The park was loud and music was blasting from somewhere, kids were dancing and laughing and having a good time. Shortly after the game ended, it was getting dark and more kids were coming in, you would have thought there was a party or something. I was looking around trying to find Amy when I noticed Marvin, one of the guy from the team, talking to her. She was laughing and her eyes glowed, I couldn't look away.
A slow song came up and people were finding others to dance with. I was about to make my way up to her when I noticed that she put down her drink and was dancing with Marvin, I felt jealousy spread over me and noticed how she kept on looking around as if she was looking for someone. The song was halfway over when Vanessa pulled her aside and said something in her ear. She started looking around. I took that as a hint and moved to where she was standing, as soon as she saw me she smiled and walked up to meet me.
"I didn't know you were going to be here." I told her.
"Same with you, Vanessa talked me into coming here." She said.
"Oh, you wanna dance?" I asked her and she took my hand in hers. We danced to every song that was playing. I was really surprised at her dance moves since she was so quiet, I liked the way she was moving her body, I moved mine along with hers without paying attention to the whispers and stares from the other kids. They were saying all things on how we looked like a couple. We laughed and danced until it was time to go home. I walked her home.
"I had fun," She said looking at me and smiling.
"You can dance girl, I enjoyed myself." I told her smiling.
"Listen I wanted to talk to you about something that's really important." She told me.
"Let's go in." I told her, but she shook her head no.
"Not now, it's too late and you have to go home. I would like it if you could come here tomorrow morning early." She told me.
"Sure, I'll be here early" I told her, we were standing there looking at each other for the longest time before I could get the courage to kiss her and she happily returned it. We were like that until I heard my dad honking his car, and I had no choice but to stop.
"Good night Amy." I told her.
"Good night Jeremiah." She told me before kissing me on the cheek and going inside. I waited until she was inside before going in my house to face my furious dad.
