When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not yet ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back. A week is more than enough time for us to decide whether or not to accept our destiny."

Chapter 16: Jeremiah
I took the phone and called Vanessa to let her know what was going on only to find that she had company.
"So are you going to say anything?" She asked me.
"My mother said all that?" I asked her after listening to what she and my mom had planned and I couldn't be more happy.
"So honey, how you doing?" My mother's voice said.
"I'm okay mom, you're not mad at me right?" I asked her.
"No, I understand why you did it, but just be careful." She told me. I talked to them for a couple more minutes before hanging up the phone smiling at the unexpected surprise that was coming to my dad. I shook my head and laughed but quickly shut up when I noticed a shadow running towards to where I was. I quickly went behind the tree so the figure wouldn't see me. I stayed there and was surprise when I noticed that I knew who he was. I was about to go talk to him when heard him talking to himself as he walked past the tree not knowing if anyone was there.
"That little bitch Amy gone and took my gun thinking that I didn't have another one. Can't wait till I get my hand on her pretty little neck, and then I'mma make sure to ask that moron Ezekiel for more money cause this shit is crazy. Me? Smith Ezekiel? Killing a girl? A beautiful one at that." I noticed how he nodded his head before he kept on running.
"Well hello Uncle Smith, nice to see finally meet you, who ever thought it would be this way." I said smiling as I waited for him to get farther away from where I was before moving. I was shocked. I couldn't believe that my father had hired someone to kill Amy. I've never met smith, I've been hearing stories for years about him growing with my dad and how they were always so close next to each other. I wondered why he and dad got separated in the first place. I heard it was something about my dad stealing his girl, and I pray to God that it wasn't my mother. I pictured his face in my head one more time and smiled and ran my hand over my soft braided hair before falling asleep. When I woke up, I was upset at myself for falling asleep because even if I didn't want to get caught by smith, I also didn't want to lose him knowing that he could lead me to Amy if I follow him. I got up and started running. I must have ran for a good three hours before I heard his voice again, and I smiled knowing that he couldn't travel fast because he doesn't have any supplies. I stayed behind a tree and watched him go into the cabin not so far away. I waited until he was deep inside before I started climbing. I climbed the tree and stayed up there waiting for him to come out. When he finally did, he came out jumping like a little kid. I was wondering why he was so happy until I heard him talked again in his deep voice.
"Yes, I knew she would have been here, yes. Now all I have to do is keep on following her and I'll be done before I know it. Dang, looks like someone was doing their hair, it smells good too. Now what in the name of Jesus makes Ezekiel hate that girl so much? What did she do to him that makes him want her dead? He swore to never hurt another soul again after becoming a stupid ass fake priest. I can't wait for the police bust his sorry ass, all I asked him was to let me meet my nephew but being the dick head that he is, he wanted me to kill the girl or never meet my nephew. Ain't that some shit. I'm tired of this bitch ass niggah always making the decisions. Shit I don't even know why I agreed to do this shit especially after what he did to Yolanda. You know what? I'mma change the plans and start making my own decision. And Ezekiel? Know that payback is a mother fucker, so get ready. And Amy as for you, you're safe if only I could find you to say sorry and get the rest of this story straight out, why the hell you running in the woods anyway? Well anyway, I better get some rest before I set out again."
I listened to everything Smith was saying from where I was on top of that tree. I let the silent tear dropped down my face realizing that I didn't know anything about my father. I wondered what he meant by 'fake priest'? And what did he do to that Yolanda? I closed my eyes and prayed to God that Amy was safe where ever she was before falling asleep.
