You will lose someone you can't live without, and your heart will be badly broken, and the bad news is that you never completely get over the loss of your beloved. But this is also the good news. They live forever in your broken heart that doesn't seal back up. And you come through. It's like having a broken leg that never heals perfectly...that still hurts when the weather gets cold, but you learn to dance with the limb.

Chapter 18: Jeremiah

I was cursing in my head so much that it hurts. Smith such was a heavy sleeper that someone could have killed him while he was sleeping, and he wouldn't have known anything. It was even worse that he talked in his sleep, as if that wasn't enough, he even snored. Seriously what kind of serial killer sleeps that hard? I never strayed far from him, he talked to himself a lot which told me more and more about my father's past. It was not pleasant. Now sitting on top of the tree I was in a place where even if he looked up he wouldn't be able to see me. I was smiling to myself until I heard him say, "When was the last time I climbed a tree?" I suddenly sat up and started praying to God that he wouldn't try to climb the tree I was on, but I knew it was no help because it was the only stable tree here, meaning it's what he would have chosen. I was about to lay back down when I heard my stomach grumbled. I looked down to see if he had heard it and sure enough he did.

"The fuck?" he said looking up.

"What the hell was that?" he kept on asking. I once again was about to lay down when the same thing happened, and then again, and again, and again.

"Ok, look from what I'm hearing I know you ain't no animal so you might as well come down now little Amy because it looks like you could use something to eat." He said still looking up. I stayed where I was and didn't move.

"Come on down, we need to talk." He said again. I jumped down and watched as he jumped back.

"Now who the fuck are you and what the hell are you doing here?" He said before looking at me and as soon as he did, he looked shocked and couldn't say anything else.

"You okay sir?" I asked him not wanting to give him any clue as in who I was.

"You look so much like my brother, shit. What you doing here?" He asked me, "Why you in the woods for kid?" He asked looking at me.

"I ain't no kid." I told him.

"Why you here?" He asked again.

Same reason you here." I told him, and he looked at me and smile.

"You hungry?" He asked me.

"Niggah please you ain't even got anything to eat for your own self."

"How would you know?" he asked me.

"Because I've been following your lazy ass for three days now and your stupid ass didn't even know. Do you always talk to yourself?" I asked him smiling a little bit.

"Why you've been following me?" He asked. "What do you want with me?" he asked me.

"Let's just say, I was scared and was glad to have someone else around." I told him smiling.

"So you won't tell me why you here by yourself?" He asked me again.

"Nope."

"Okay, you can stay with me." He said.

"Great, so why are you here?" I asked him.

"Same reason you're here." He said repeating my words from earlier.

"Suit yourself." I told him. He looked at me again real hard before shaking his head and heading up to the little cabin that was ahead of us. I followed close behind him.
