When I got home with Anzai, he turned to me. "Will you answer me now? Will you tell me what I did wrong already?"

I folded my arms. "I already said it was something you didn't do. It makes me more upset that you haven't figured it out yet."

"Help me out a little...?"

"I've given you hints."

"...hints?"

"I'm going to bed." I pushed past him.

I was surprised to see Minoru again the next night.

"Do you still have business in town?" I asked.

He sipped from his drink. "It sounds like you want me to leave. Don't you still like me anymore?" He smiled.

"I just thought you were passing through. You can stay as long as you'd like of course."

"Narihira, didn't I make it clear yesterday? When I said I missed you?" He leaned closer, across the bar counter.

"...but you left."

"I apologized, didn't I? I'm trying to make amends. Just as you haven't forgotten about me, I haven't forgotten about you." He motioned for me to come closer like he was going to whisper something in my ear. I leaned forward. Once I did, he caressed my cheek. "I still like you, Narihira. After all these years, I can't forget our kiss."

His arm was suddenly pulled back. I looked at Anzai who wore an angry expression for once. My eyes widened and my heart fluttered.

"Don't touch him," Anzai said in a low voice.

Minoru winced. "Are you allowed to grab customers like this...?"

I put my hand on Anzai's. "Let him go. It's alright."

He hesitated. Then he finally let go. Minoru rubbed his arm.

"Is there a reason you had to interrupt us...?" He asked.

"He's just protective of me," I said. "But I'd prefer if you didn't touch me like that again."

He looked surprised. "Does that mean...?"

"I'm sorry... I can't return your feelings. It's kind of impossible to forget your first love and first kiss, especially when they leave suddenly. But I think I'm ready to move on from my past. No hard feelings?"

"...I see... I guess only my feelings stayed the same." He rose from his seat and pulled cash out to pay for his drink. "I'll leave for the night. I'd still like to see you for as long as I'm here."

"...My bar is open most days."

He nodded before turning around and leaving. I turned to Anzai, my heart still fluttering a bit.

"I'm sorry..." He said.

"...Thank you. You always protect me," I smiled.

"...Narihira..."

Rikiya suddenly appeared at the bar counter. "What happened? Did he hurt you?"

I was surprised for a moment. "Huh? I'm fine. Why?"

"I have a bad feeling about that bastard. Did he finally leave for good?"

"Well, not really..."

"Geez, can't you ban him from the bar?"

"Do I really have to go that far?!"

"Fine, don't listen to me then! I have customers to serve!" He turned away, huffing and puffing.
