Humming a soft tune to myself, I walked to the kitchen with my phone in my hand, so very aware of the heavy footsteps trailing right behind me.
I paused by the counter to select for my favorite type of pizza on the app, about to ask him if he wanted something too when my phone suddenly disappeared from my hands, making me frown.
"What are you doing?"
"Ordering some food?" I replied unsure, turning around to face him.
My phone was in his hands now, watching him give it a few taps before leaving it on the counter.
"There's no need to. I will whip something up for you,"
Ookay?
"Let's see what you have," Brow raised, I watched him go to my fridge and start rummaging through it, sifting through the various things scattered inside.
I shrugged and then went to take a bottle of wine from our special cabinet, popping it open before I took a glass for myself and poured some, taking a seat on the counter as I watched him move around my kitchen, gathering random things he needed for preparing a meal.
I took a sip from my glass of red wine, watching with interest as he started with washing the vegetables and then chopping them, meticulously working like a true chef as I sat there and observed him.
"Where did you learn how to cook?"
"Auntie Gabriella, I mean David's mom is a great cook. She taught me," He answered, keeping his back to me as he continued to do whatever he was doing there now.
"We cook together at every family dinner," He paused to turn around, giving me a better view at his muscled torso since he was shirtless now, thanks to our earlier heated make-out session.
Wow. That sounded nice.
"And do you do that often?" I tilted my head to the side, watching him step closer to me and nestle himself between my knees, his hand resting on my bare thigh as his gaze found mine.
"We haven't done that in a while, now that I'm...here with you,"
And before I could even realize he had already snatched the glass of wine from right next to me, taking a sip for himself before quickly turning back around and resuming to his previous activities.
"Are you trying to say that I'm keeping you here? Away from your family?" I stared at his back, brow raised even though he could not see me as he had his back turned to me, hearing that chopping knife rapidly slamming against the cutting board for a few more times until it abruptly stopped, seemingly only now having registered what I just said.
"Come home with me," He suddenly turned back around, his beautiful eyes filled with hope and excitement as he looked at me.
What?
My brows shot up with evident surprise at first, wondering what the hell got into him before that earlier conversation I had with his wolf suddenly popped back into my mind, making me realize exactly why he was asking me this.
Looks like the wolf kept his promise after all.
"Let me show you my home. The place where I grew up," He approached me again, keeping that hopeful expression plastered over his features as he peered between my eyes.
"Your future kingdom,"
He smiled at me, the feeling of his hands over my thighs doing things to me as I found myself unable to reply even though I wanted to, slowly inhaling whiff after whiff of that enchanting perfume of his as he'd pressed himself even closer, our lips barely a few inches away from touching.
Did I want to go there? I sure did. I was curious as hell to meet those elders his wolf had spoken about and finally have some real answers about who I was and what that magic within me could actually do. But I also felt kinda scared and restless too. Because I knew what going to his home really meant. Meeting his family. Yikes.
"It's okay. We don't have to go if you don't want to," His eyes danced between my own, feeling the warm caress of his breath over my lips with every exhale.
Oh shit. Great. Now I wanna kiss him again.
"No, I..." I blinked a few times, struggling to find my words as his closeness was simply intoxicating.
"I mean, you're basically asking me to go meet my in-laws, and god-knows who else," I cringed a little, feeling so damn awkward and anxious after having said that.
"That's..." I lightly shook my head, trying to clear my furiously spinning thoughts.
"Okay, I can tell that you're already freaking out," He offered me another warm smile.
"But I promise you, I swear to you that no one will harm you," His demeanor turned so tender and sweet, his warm hand gingerly holding my chin.
"They won't even look at you if you don't want them to,"
He pushed a few strands of hair behind my ear, caressing my cheek before moving to rest his palm over the side of my neck.
"I'll protect you, Carina, from anything and anyone. I swear. I won't ever let anything happen to you. You are mine and I..." He took a few long and calming breaths, seeming rather affected himself as he gazed between my eyes again, quietly uttering those three words,
"I...love you,"
Holy shit. Holy motherfucking crap.
Now I wanna kiss him even more.
Holy hell. Oh my god.
To say that I was freaking out was an understatement. No. I was not freaking out. I was fucking mental.
This was already the second time he was telling me these kind of words. The second fucking time! And I-
"If you break my heart I swear I will cut your dick off in your sleep and then feed it to you," I blurted out before I could even stop myself, my voice coming out a little grungy from the straining anxiousness.
And with a shuddering breath I threw my arms around the back of his neck and pulled him closer, wiping that pleased smirk off of his face as I slammed my lips against his.
