I flipped my damp hair back then traced my fingers through it, my stomach growling from hunger as I could feel the sweet aroma of freshly made pancakes.
I slowly made my way into the spacious kitchen, my gaze darting around until it found Nathan, watching him stand by the island with a large plate of steaming hot pancakes, chopped fruits and various other goodies neatly placed on the marble counter.
"What?" I asked as I noticed him weirdly staring back at me, his heated gaze slowly trailing from my bare legs and all the way up to my face, making me feel kinda warm and restless.
"Nothing," He awkwardly cleared out his throat and looked away, blinking a few times before he lightly shook his head.
"H-how was your shower?" He asked out of the blue, keeping his gaze trained on the food sitting right in front of him as I made my way towards the island and took a seat across from him.
"Uh, warm and...wet?" I replied unsure, brow raised as I curiously watched him for a moment, vaguely weirded-out by his sudden odd behaviour.
What the hell got into him?
"This looks nice," I said nonetheless with a smile as I let my gaze fall onto the healthy and fresh-looking variety of food, not even sure what to start with as everything looked so damn good.
"I figured that you'd be hungry," I heard him sheepishly say just as I'd popped a strawberry into my mouth, my gaze raising just in time to catch him staring at me like a creep again, his heated gaze switching between my eyes and mouth as he nervously rubbed the back of his neck.
"What?" I asked with a small and humorless laugh, receiving a mild shake of his head as he rather bashfully averted his gaze again.
"Wow, you totally suck at making small talk," I said with a chuckle, watching him as I popped another piece of fruit into my mouth.
He remained silent as I eventually took a plate and got myself some of those yummy-looking pancakes, filling them with syrup and eating them to my heart's contentment.
I licked my lips and fingers after finishing them as I'd somehow managed to cover myself up in syrup, almost forgetting that I wasn't alone in the kitchen when the sound of him clearing out his throat abruptly drew my attention, startled to notice that his eyes were now black again.
Holy shit.
I didn't move at first, too scared to find out what happened if I did as I didn't even know why they looked like that all of a sudden.
"Is...everything okay?" I cautiously asked with a calm and quiet tone, holding myself as still as possible as I watched him furrow his brows with evident confusion.
"Your...your eyes...They're-they're uhm..."
"Black?"
I quickly nodded in response, dragging my hands back closer to my body as I unconsciously prepared myself to run away, should our current situation request of it.
"Oh. That usually happens when I'm feeling really...stimulated by the sight or smell of you," He calmly explained as if there was nothing unusual about it, my heart though starting to pump a little harder and my cheeks filling up with heat at the sound of that.
