For the rest of the week, David continued to sit next to me during every single class we attended together, surprisingly enough managing to keep Nathan away as he even made the effort to escort me almost everywhere within the school grounds.

He kept me company during break time and lunch as well, acting like a bodyguard slash friend -much to Nathan's utter aggravation- and making sure that his unproclaimed leader stayed as far as possible away from me.
I didn't know why he was doing it but to be completely honest, I was so grateful for it because finally, I could breathe in relief and shake that fear of another dreadful encounter with Satan.

Speaking of...

My hand unwillingly clenched around my soda can as my gaze clashed with his again, watching him intently stare right back at me from his seat all the way back at the opposite wall of our school's inside cafeteria, fierce and unwavering.

"Isn't that right, Carr-bear?" Kayla's question casually reached my ears, making me pry my gaze off of him as I lastly turned to face her.

"Hmm? What?"

"I was just telling David how much you love going out dancing, ain't that right Care?" She said with a smirk and that certain glint in her eyes I already knew too damn well.

Oh great. Now what? What evil plan are you coming up with now?

"She's just crazy about it, dancing, fooling around. She's a real party animal, this one right here," She gently tapped my shoulder with her palm twice, my eyes narrowing as I continued to look at her with a glower that said "you're so dead". But she didn't stop there. Nooo way. Instead she just kept going like she didn't give a rat's ass about my silent threatening, her grin widening before spewing those following words,

"In fact, I think you should ask her to go out with you. For the Fall Prom, of course,"

"Am I right girls? I think they would make such a cute pair, wouldn't they?"

My sister and Jess only giggled in response, David joining them with a chuckle as they all looked at my sulking expression.

I knew Fall Prom was right around the corner but truth to be told, I really wasn't in the mood for it. Not after everything that was happening lately. Plus I really didn't want another chance to spend some more time in someone's certain vicinity. Five days a week for half a day was already enough as it was. Even though he was now keeping a fair distance, thanks to David's constant presence.

"You know what? I think I will, actually. It's not like I have anyone else in mind and I do enjoy her company,"

I stupidly blinked a few times at the sound of those words coming out of his mouth, my eyes finding his warm and rich brown ones as I stared back at him in disbelief.

Did he really just-

"What do you say, Care? Will you do me the honors of going to Fall Prom, with me?"

A round of aww's followed, the girls already swooning in their seats as I continued to stare back at him while gaping like a fish.

Needless to say that David had actually proved to be a very sweet guy in these past few days and the girls were already in love with him, hence their excessive reactions. However, as I was about to answer for some fucked-up reason my gaze trailed back to Satan, just noticing the way his expression changed from fierce to downright murderous as he glowered at the back of David's head.

And the moment that simple word squeezed its way past my lips a loud commotion followed as Nathan kicked the poor table in front of him with so much force that it actually flipped, angrily storming out of the cafeteria right after.
