Golden eyes lurked from the shadows like glowing embers, their demonic gaze studying their prey with hunger. A dribbling snout, with gleaming fangs and teeth...It waited, with trained patience, for the perfect moment to attack. To tear into flesh, with vengeance and delight...
"Hey! Hey! Hey! Oh my god! Dude, what the fuck!?!"
My breath caught up in my throat with a strangled gasp, suddenly noticing how our car kept skidding from one side side to another on the still wet asphalt from last night's rain. I startled and steadied the steering wheel, my foot quickly jumping off of the gas pedal before sending a quick glance in my sister's direction. Andrea's face was white as a sheet, her nails roughly digging into the edges of her seat as she breathed fast and hard.
I was clearly too distracted to focus, my mind continuously revolving around that recurring and absolutely horrifying dream.
One week and I was already so tired of it all...the same nightmare repeating over and over again in my head, the sleepless nights...
I didn't know what was going on with me anymore.
All I knew was that it had started precisely a week ago, and that it'd turned my whole life upside down...
"You know what? If you're not able to drive, just pull over and let me jump behind the wheel because I definitely don't want to end up in a fucking ditch today, okay dude?" She yelled at me, causing me to startle and notice that I was once again pressing on that damned pedal, the car accelerating with a loud rumble.
"Shit!"
I took my foot off of it, scared shitless as I gradually pressed on the brake and made the car slow down until it reached the legal limit, giving my sister an apologetic smile.
"Sorry, I promise I'll pay more attention..." I quietly said, touching that hand resting in her lap before I averted my attention to the road, this time forcing myself to fully focus and ignore those horrid images still trying to snake their way at the forefront of my mind.
Fuck...this is going to be a long-ass day....
*
Golden eyes, sharp gleaming fangs-
I screwed my eyelids shut, struggling to rid my mind of those nasty images as I rested my forehead against the steering wheel for a moment.
Focus, Carrie, focus.
I took a deep breath, mentally preparing myself for another damned day of school. I finally got out of the car, getting my backpack from the backseat and then locking the car as my sister had already gotten out.
However, before I could make another move a sudden chill crept up my spine, followed by the strange sensation of being watched.
I slowly turned around, attentively scanning through the busy parking lot when my gaze accidentally collided with a pair of eyes watching me from a few cars away.
There was this tall and very athletic guy, watching me like a hawk stalking its prey as he stood right next to a black and expensive-looking car, his attire and jet black tousled hair matching his vehicle. He wore a black leather jacket and black jeans, looking like the freaking epitome of death.
What the fuck?
For some strange reason my breath refused to expel istelf past my throat, feeling so uncharacteristically intimidated as the stranger kept holding me hostage with his gaze, his eyes slowly trailing over my figure before raising to meet my own.
"He's back..."
"The demon is back..."
I could hear chant-like whispers carried by the wind all around me as my gaze remained locked with his for another few seconds... Until something -or more like someone- collided into me, effectively startling the living daylights out of me.
