She remained silent as I opened the door to the hallway and stepped out. For a moment, Keira hesitated. Then, with a quick adjustment of her T-shirt, she stepped out of the apartment, closing the door softly behind her.
The burgundy-red walls of the corridor gave the space an oppressive, dim atmosphere, making it nearly impossible to tell if it was day or night. The lack of windows only added to the disorienting effect, casting stillness over the hallway. It was as if the space itself resisted any connection to the outside world, keeping its secrets locked away behind heavy doors and shadowed corners.
Most vampires didn't like the sun because our skin started to burn after a short exposure, and it took time for the burns to heal. My skin got used to the sunlight through the centuries, so I wasn't afraid of it anymore, but most of the vampires avoid sunlight.
"Come with me." I gestured toward the door.
"You kidnapped me and brought me to a hotel?" Keira raised an eyebrow as she glanced around. "What kind of kidnapper are you?"
"The one-of-a-kind type," I said with a chuckle.
"You live here?" Her eyebrow shot up again. "I mean, do you not have a home or something?"
"This is my home, Keira." I winked. "What were you expecting? A dark castle? A dungeon, maybe?"
"Exactly what I'd expect from a vampire."
Her calmness caught me off guard. Instead of the fury or fear I had anticipated, she seemed unnervingly composed, like someone who had already pieced everything together. Like she already knew why she was here.
"Well," I said, gesturing around the space. "Almost the entire vampire population in the city lives here. It's like our nest."
Keira muttered something under her breath, then ran her hands over her face.
"This can't be real."
We were on our way to Anastasia's apartment, and despite the nerves swirling in my gut, I remained calm. I wanted Keira's first feeding experience to be as smooth as possible. And of course for that occasion Ana was thw best choice.
I knocked on the door, and we waited in silence. Seconds passed, and then the door swung open, revealing Anastasia.
She stood before us, draped in a stunning red silk dress that hugged her figure in all the right places. Her long, brown hair cascaded down her neck, making it a perfect contrast to the vibrant red.
"Hello, darling," I greeted her smoothly, pressing a soft kiss to her palm. "I have someone special for you today. You're going to enjoy this."
With a subtle gesture, I motioned toward Keira.
Anastasia's lips curled into a playful smirk as she shifted her gaze to Keira.
"Welcome."
Keira gazed at me briefly before returning her gaze to Ana and taking a step back.
"I'm not into this kind of thing," she said, shaking her head, her voice firm with resistance.
I raised an eyebrow, momentarily confused. Did she think this was some kind of sexual arrangement?
That was the absolute last thing on my mind at the moment, and I could barely suppress a smirk. Though, I supposed we would probably have some fun if that was the direction things went in.
"Believe me, you are," I replied, brushing off the annoying thoughts that had started to creep in.
I moved behind Anastasia, brushing her hair away from her neck. She closed her eyes and sighed as I trailed my fingers gently down her skin, her body naturally relaxing into the touch. We'd conditioned our donors to experience a euphoric sensation while we drank, and Ana, as always, felt incredible beneath my bite.
