Arius memories from 1891

Four of us stood in Oracle's wooden house, staring at her as she held a glass sphere with dark clouds. Candles provided the only light, allowing us to see her face. It was so quiet that the sound of Oracle's heartbeat and blood circulating all over her body irritated me.

Her black curly hair fell over her purple cloak, and her dark brown eyes glanced at us suspiciously. Although I knew she was old, the woman still looked stunning, and no one could tell she was over a hundred years old. That is the advantage of mages - they are alive yet age way slower than normal people.

"Indeed, intriguing things are awaiting you." Her low voice broke the silence, and she gazed straight into my eyes. "The prophecy shows me that the chosen one will be born after one hundred years."

"The prophecy is not about us." I corrected her.

The prophecy must reveal the secrets of the Inquisitors' weapon and guide us on how to defeat them. The Oracle, with her gift of foresight, is responsible for creating prophecies. Thanks to Nailah and Magnus, we have the Oracle on our side because she is Magnus's sister.

"Yes. The prophecy is about the chosen one, yet you will cross her path. " Oracle paused and raised her brows as she looked at the glass sphere and traced her fingers around it. "Both of you."

"Her?" I mumbled, and we exchanged glances with Zaidh.

"The girl will have enormous powers growing inside her body, and she will be more powerful than any of you. This girl is supposed to lead the Inquisitors to their goal, which is defeating dark creatures."

I don't know which fact shocked me more: the fact that the Inquisitor's weapon will be a human or that the human will be a woman. A girl who is more powerful than any of us? None of it made sense to me and I began to wonder if coming here was a good idea.

"And how is it supposed to help us, huh?" Zaidh stood up. "I don't care that inquisitors will become more powerful."

Oracle gestured for Zaidh to sit down again and blinked her eyes.

"I know that you don't care now, but you will in the future." Her response made Zaidh frown, and he turned his gaze away from her.

"The hell would break loose if I ever started caring about someone like her," Zaidh scoffed, biting his lip with a sly smirk.

Oracle raised an eyebrow and turned her gaze away without saying anything further. She lit another candle on the table and focused her gaze on me.

"Faith seems to be ruthless to the chosen one. The prophecy says that she is determined to die and that her death is inevitable."

"So the chosen one is going to die." I leaned over the wall and slid my hands into my pockets. "Why are you telling me this?"

"Because you are the one who is going to change her destiny. "She smirked at me. "If you find a way to turn humans into vampires, you will have a way to defeat your enemy."

"She wants me to turn her into a vampire," I muttered to myself.

I had no idea how to do it without my father's ritual, which had been lost. That meant I had to find another way. Is it even possible? The Oracle furrowed her brows and gazed at me as if she wanted to say something else, but she remained silent.

"You must wait until her thirtieth birthday before you turn her. If you do it sooner, things may unfold differently than they should," she warned. Yet there is a chance that by turning her into a vampire, you could unleash an even worse fate upon all of you. I see that Zaidh."
