Keira clutched her head, pressing her fingers against her temples as she squeezed her eyes shut. She tried to remember anything from last night, but it seemed like her mind went blank after she had some shots with Sara.
Panic surged through her as dreadful possibilities churned in her mind. The thought of waking up next to Zaidh was a mistake she couldn't afford to make.
"Did we...?" The words died on her lips, and she felt too horrified to finish the question.
"Keira, come on. I might be awful, but I do respect you." Zaidh leaned back, a wicked grin spreading across his face as he stretched out his arms. "Last night was probably one of the best nights of your life."
Keira blinked in surprise. If Zaidh said it like that, he probably meant it. Yet the fact that she doesn't remember anything concerned her.
"Did I do something stupid?"
"We all did, Keira." Zaidh burst into laughter, shaking his head with a sigh. "You seemed happy last night."
Keira let out a long breath and pushed herself to her feet. She needed to clean up—her clothes were stained with blood, and she looked like a mess.
"Elias's sister left you some new clothes in the bathroom," Zaidh said with a wink. "Freshen up. We've got a lot of work ahead of us."
"What?" Keira narrowed her eyes, her voice laced with confusion and suspicion.
Zaidh stood up, closing the distance between them. His hands rested on her shoulders. Him being so close to her made Keira feel awkward in a way she didn’t want to feel.
"Last night, you made a deal with Elias and five others to turn them into hybrids," Zaidh said, a sarcastic smirk curling his lips. "I hope you haven't changed your mind?"
"Yeah," Keira muttered, more to herself than to him. "Of course."
She got up and stretched, noticing that the sky outside was growing dark. How long had she been asleep?
"How long did I sleep?" She asked gazing trough the window.
"Twenty-four hours," Zaidh replied and pursed his lips.
Keira's eyebrows shot up in surprise after hearing that she slept so long. She wondered what Arius was thinking now. He surely noticed that she and Zaidh weren't at the hotel, and since they told no one where they were going, Arius was probably going crazy. The thought of it made Keira smile.
This was exactly the revenge she was looking for.
She took a quick shower and wrapped herself in a towel, pleasantly surprised to find that the clothes left for her were both her size and style. Zaidh was already dressed and waiting for her. They exchanged glances before heading downstairs.
The whole mansion was quiet, almost too clean, showing no sign of the wild party from the night before. As they walked into the main living room, Keira spotted Elias, Klaus, Sara, and a few others lounging around, watching TV.
"Well, hello," Elias greeted her with a smirk. "Did you sleep well?"
"I did," Keira said, running her fingers nervously through her hair. She felt awkward in front of them, especially since she couldn't remember anything from the party. Zaidh's earlier comments didn't help. She probably did a lot of stupid things.
"Glad you two had fun. The next one is tomorrow," Elias said, stretching his legs out. "A pre-Halloween costume party." He winked.
Keira scanned the room, then raised an eyebrow.
"So, who wants to go first?"
She sighed, realizing that turning five people into hybrids at once was going to be complicated. It would push her powers to their limits, and she began thinking of ways to make the process easier.
