From Arius's perspective
"Make yourself comfortable. "I'm going to take a shower."
"Yeah, all good." Keira dropped her jacket on the couch and sat down. A slight smirk crept onto her face as she felt how comfortable the sofa was, and she gazed through the window at the beautiful city panorama.
After enjoying a warm shower, I wrapped a towel around my waist and went out. Keira stood near the kitchen and poured blood into the glass. She widened her eyes after noticing me.
It took me a moment to realize why she stared at me like that. After living alone for so many years, I need time to get used to the fact that I'm not alone. And I can't walk out of the shower almost naked.
At least for now.
"Is everything alright?" She asked, turning her glance away.
"Yeah." I grinned and ran my fingers through my wet hair nervously. "I'm going to get dressed."
I used my speed and disappeared from her sight immediately. I took a pair of casual clothes out of my closet and got dressed. A shirt and loose pants would do for the night. Somehow, I wasn't in the mood for a suit since I wasn't planning to go out anywhere tonight. I could finally have a good rest.
Keira smirked upon seeing me approach. She sat on the sofa and glanced through the window, thinking about something.
"Do vampires sleep?" She asked as I sat next to her.
"Yes, we do sleep. It helps us heal faster when we're injured and reduces our lust for blood," I said, crossing my legs as I lay down. "I enjoy dreaming when I sleep."
"Really?" She seemed to be surprised to hear that vampires actually sleep. "You can even dream?"
"Of course," I sighed. "Have you thought that all we do is kill and drink blood?"
"Umm, yeah." She laughed softly.
"Perhaps in the beginning, we were monsters, but the world has changed a lot, so we have had to adapt. Humans did the same thing. They were savage and uncivilized. Now look at them."
Yet, there are some feral vampires who live only for blood, but they don't survive long and are the main targets for Inquisitors.
The sky was clear and full of stars as I gazed through the window. Sadly, the city lights faded many of them, but the brightest still shone through. Starry nights reminded me of home and my childhood. We used to watch the sky with Zaidh and Nailah when we were kids.
As I think of my childhood now, it seems like a dream, and I don't remember many details from that time. I almost don't remember anything that happened before the night when I died.
"You lived for so long so. Did you never get tired of living?"
"Interesting question," I smirked while pondering her question. "Once I wished to become human and die after living a normal life, but I believe it is pointless to wish for something impossible. I'm not as excited about living as I was two thousand years ago. I don't even know if there's a point to living anymore." I sighed and glanced at her.
I do have a reason for living now.
"But if you could, would you want to turn back into a human?" She gazed at me, her eyes filled with curiosity.
I often thought about what it would be like to be human. Would I enjoy my life without all the advantages a vampire possesses?
I know for certain that I do not wish to live for another two thousand years. Instead, if I could spend my lifetime as a human with Keira and share every moment with her until the end. That would bring me true happiness.
