Present from Keira's perspective
We were standing in the same main room as in Arius's memories. Two men were busily filling blood bottles. They gazed at us suspiciously for a moment and then continued their work.
"Pretty amazing, isn't it ?" Arius raised his brow and waited for my response.
Now I know for sure that Arius is not only handsome but also very intelligent. My brain couldn't comprehend how smart he must be, considering that he had lived for so long.
I felt rather excited that he turned me into a vampire instead of just letting me die. Still, I wondered who decided to get rid of me in the first place.
"Who is responsible for my death?" My question made him turn his surprised gaze at me.
"I wondered when you were going to ask about it." We walked around the main room and stopped at one of the research desks. "You are smart enough to understand that I could have compelled the sniper and the entire Odesa group not to kill you. If I had done that, the Inquisitors would have found you sooner or later and killed you without any chance of survival. So, you can interpret it however you want."
"How unexpected," I muttered.
One part of me had already begun to hate inquisitors because it seemed that they were rather causing problems than helping. The other part reminded me not to blindly trust Arius, but somehow, I already trusted him.
It makes sense that the order came from the Odessa group. Cade probably found out that I had planned to leave him, or someone had seen me with Ricardo at Foley's. Either way, I noticed that Cade acted strangely, and I should have considered the consequences of being involved with a member of a mafia group. Cade took excellent care of me, providing everything I could have dreamed of.
But did he truly love me? I'm not sure.
To him, I was just a source of entertainment, his beautiful puppet whom he could show off to other members. I'm not sad that I died and was turned into a vampire. Perhaps this life will be better than my human one.
The most important thing is that I am still alive. Sort of.
The view of the main lobby caught our attention as we exited the elevator. The atmosphere here felt luxurious and pretentious. Red walls complemented the black furniture and dark flooring.
There was so much space in here that it left me wondering how big this hotel truly was. I noticed an old-fashioned bar on my left as we walked through the main lobby. A few vampires were sitting there, having drinks. A bit farther on the opposite side was a large, luxurious restaurant. Near the reception was a large lounge sprawled across the hall, with a few vampires lounging on the black leather sofas.
Some vampires gazed at me suspiciously. All of them were dressed in very fashionable and even fancy attire. Their hair was styled and cut to perfection, and everyone simply looked impeccable.
Which made me feel like trash among them.
Maybe that's why they were giving me those strange gazes. I felt a little bit uncomfortable and drew closer to Arius. He smirked at me and showed me to turn left.
"So no one I know has any memories of me left?" I asked as we entered the restaurant.
It looked very fancy, with most of the guests being humans, mostly girls. I couldn't believe that vampires were taking such care of their donors. At least it seemed like they were. The hotel rooms were nice, and dining at the restaurant dressed up in fancy clothes made the impression that the donors here lived a good life. Even normal people don't get this kind of luxury.
