Keira made her way to the reception and requested a floor plan with a list of available rooms and apartments. She still wanted to stay close to Arius to be able to sense him if something went wrong. There was a suite just beneath the presidential apartment, the closest option to Arius's place, but there was one problem—Zaidh lived one floor above.
"Whatever." She looked at Isabella."Give me the keys to suite number 5200."
"Is something wrong?" she asked curiously. "Moving out from Arius?"
"We need a break." Keira smiled at her sadly. "The keys, please."
"If you need anything, I'm here to help." Isabella smiled at Keira, handed her the keys, and sat down near the desk.
Her words made Keira smile as well, and she was happy about bringing Isabella to the hotel.
She was a really sweet girl.
Keira returned to Arius's apartment to gather a few things. The place was empty and dark, indicating that Arius was already out in the city. A flicker of concern crossed her mind as she wondered what he was doing. Was he with Ana and Cassius? A part of her wanted to find him, to make sure he was okay, but she quickly brushed those thoughts aside.
Arius should have suggested they go out alone, just the two of them. To Keira, it felt pointless to go on a double date with Ana and Cassius when she had so much on her mind. Though she understood that Arius only wanted to distract her and show that Ana had no ill intentions, it still felt foolish to spend time with her.
Keira packed her bag and took Asim's book with her. Arius wasn't reading it anyway, and she still needed to find something that might help break her bond with Zaidh. She cast one last glance around the apartment as if she hoped to find a reason to stay. But there was none. She needed to create some distance with Arius even if that was the most painful thing to do.
She headed to her new apartment, which was smaller but had a cozy feel to it. Opening the fridge, she found it stocked just as she had requested-bottled blood and whiskey.
"Very good," Keira smirked, grabbing a bottle.
She drank the blood, her gaze drifting around the room as she wondered what to do next. Keira felt a deep sense of loneliness; apart from Cassius and Arius, she didn’t have anyone to talk to. No parents, no friends—just empty space around her. The realization made her feel even more isolated and depressed.
Arius was drowning in his own worries and concerns, and though he knew Keira very well, he wasn't the best person to be by her side right now. She stood there, staring blankly into space until an idea struck her—
A dangerous and reckless idea.Since spending time with humans was not an option, Keira decided to find someone she could turn into a hybrid. Without fully realizing the risk she was about to take, one that could lead to more conflict, she headed for the main lobby. Her plan was to start with the staff members, who had already been compelled and were accustomed to life at the hotel.
She decided to start with her favorite so far-the receptionist, Isabella.
With a slight smirk, Keira strolled through the main lobby, thinking about how she would create more hybrids like herself. As she walked, Zaidh, who had been sitting in the lounge, noticed her. In the blink of an eye, he was walking by her side.
"What are you up to, witchy?" Zaidh narrowed his eyes
"Stop calling me that," she snapped, pushing him away. "I'm going to create more hybrids.
Zaidh stopped, grabbing her arm to force her to stop. She yanked his hand off and, in one swift motion, clutched his neck with a firm grip.
"Fuck off," she growled through clenched teeth, making Zaidh grin.
