"WHAT?"
Natatawang napakamot sa ulo si Brad nang makita ang masama niyang tingin.
"This is your fault. I told you not to fetch me. At talagang sa bahay pa," naiiling na sabi niya.
Brad just laughed.
"Well, did you see his face when you told him that I am your boyfriend? Damn. I thought he'd kill me," natatawang sabi nito.
"You're enjoying this. I didn't want to introduce you as my boyfriend, Brad. Ikaw lang itong mapilit dahil gusto mong makita ang reaksyon niya," nakasimangot na sabi niya.
"All right, I'm sorry. I don't mind, though. I did enjoy seeing his reaction," nakangiting sabi nito.
Mahina siyang napabuntong-hininga.
"I don't want you think that I am using you," mahinang sabi niya.
"I told you, I don't mind. You can use me anytime you want. Walang problema sa akin. If you need help, just call me," sabi nito at ilang sandali siyang sinulyapan.
Kaagad din nitong itinutok ang tingin sa daan dahil nagmamaneho ito.
"I was actually shocked when you messaged me last night," patuloy nito.
She indeed contacted him first last night. Her intention was to only seek advice from him. Dahil lalaki ito at nagbabakasakali siya na baka matulungan siya nito kung paanong paamuhin ang stepbrother niya.
"What do you think of him?" she asked.
"Your stepbrother? Hmm..." Ilang sandali itong nag-isip. "He's interesting. He seems calm and know how to control himself. I don't think you could tame that kind of man, Haurine. No offense meant, sa nakikita ko sa stepbrother mo, hindi siya basta-basta mapapasuko. He's kinda mysterious."
Natahimik siya sa sinabi nito. Mahina siyang napabuntong-hininga at tumingin sa labas ng bintana.
"Just don't test his patience. You'll never know what he can do. You started this game, make sure that you'll win in the end," Brad continued.
"I don't know why you're helping me but thank you, Brad," mahinang sabi niya.
"My pleasure. I don't know the reason why I'm helping you, either. I just find you interesting. That's why I approached you first," he replied.
Tiningnan niya ito.
"Usually, men who approached me first wants to have sex with me," diretsong sabi niya.
"Well, I don't want to lie. I actually want that at first. But the moment you spoke and looked at me, I knew from there that I don't stand a chance. Unang tingin mo pa lang sa akin, you already made me feel not to cross the line. You already build a wall between us." Brad chuckled.
Hindi niya mapigilang mapangiti.
"You're weird," naiiling na sabi niya.
"Everybody says so." Nagkibit-balikat ito.
"May gusto ka ba sa'kin?" diretsong tanong niya.
Brad chuckled.
"You love someone else. Kahit may gusto ako sa'yo, wala rin namang pupuntahan. Hindi ko ugaling mamilit ng babaeng hindi ako gusto," nakangiting sabi nito.
Mahina naman siyang natawa.
"I like you for that. Let's be friends, Brad," nakangiting sabi niya.
"Hindi pa ba tayo friends nito? I mean...I already accepted the fact that I got friend zoned by a beautiful girl like you," natatawang tanong nito.
