Chapter 5 I River

It was a Saturday.

I was lying on my bed watching YouTube.

I received a message from Bethany.

I opened it.

Bethany: the gang and I are going to the river. Do u want to go, mate?

Me: yes.

Bethany: what's ur address?

I sent her my address.

Bethany: I'm on my way 😀

Me: 👍

I walked to my door and opened it. I opened it and left my room. I closed the door and walked into the lounge room to see my mums sitting on the couch watching TV while they folded laundry.

"Hey, my friends and I are going to the river if you don't mind," I said.

They both said that they didn't mind. I hugged my mum and then my mother. We said bye. I love you, and I left the room.

It was a few minutes later.

I stood in front of the front door, waiting for Bethany to arrive.

I heard a horn outside my house. I looked out the window to see a car parked in the driveway.

It was Bethany.

She stuck her hand out and waved. I waved back. I opened the door and walked out. I closed it and walked up to her car. I hopped in.

John and Leah were in the car, too.

We greeted each other. Bethany started driving.

"The other humans are in a separate car and on their way to the river. It'll be there for at least 30 minutes."

"Ok," I said, smiling.

I looked out the window.

It was 34 minutes later.

We arrived at an off-road.

The road was gravel.

Bethany turned onto it and continued driving.

It was 4 minutes later.

We arrived.

For the entire trip, I stared out the window and talked to my friends.

There was a car parked in front of us.

It must be the others.

"The road is too rough to drive more. We have to go on foot from here, mate. It's like at least a minute." Bethany said.

"The others are already here," Mack said.

We hopped out of the car and started walking.

As we were walking, the leaves crunched under our shoes.

It was a minute later.

We arrived at a river.

John and Big Paul were already there splashing each other in their bathers.

"Oh shit, I forgot to bring my bathers," I said nervously.

"Don't worry; you can wear your undies or mine," she said.

"Mm, I'll wear my underwear, thanks," I replied.

"Cool. Let's go down to the river, and we'll take our clothes off," she replied.

"Ok," I replied.

I started walking towards the river.

"Youse better not watch me or else!" I heard Bethany threaten.

I laughed.

She's most likely threatening Mack and Leah. She's funny.

"Hey guys!" I yelled at John and Big Paul.

They stopped splashing and looked at me.

"Finally, after all these years, y'all finally arrived." Big Paul said.

I laughed. We greeted each other.

"Oh shit, I forgot to take my clothes off. Be back." I said.

I turned around and started walking toward the others. I could hear splashing from behind me. I walked behind the car to see Bethany taking her clothes off.

"Shit, sorry," I said.

"All good, mate." She said, not looking at me.

I walked away. I walked up to a tree and took off all my clothes except my underwear. I walked up to the car and put my clothes in it. I walked up to the river and hopped in. I started splashing them, and they splashed me back.

It was a minute later.

The others returned wearing bathers.

They hopped in the river and joined in on the splashing war.

It was a few hours later.

The sun was beginning to set, turning the sky into a beautiful gold colour.

"It's getting late, so we should head home now," John said, disappointed.

We all hopped out and walked up to the cars. I grabbed a towel from the car and dried myself.

Once I was done, I grabbed my clothes and put them on.

Once I was done, I hopped into the car.

"Is everyone ready?" Bethany asked.

We all said yes. She started driving. I looked behind me and saw the other car driving as well. I looked out the window.

The sky was turning darker each second.

It was 34 minutes later.

We arrived at my house.

We said bye, and I hopped out. I walked inside to see my mums making something in the kitchen.

I'm home." I said.

They stopped what they were doing and looked at me, smiling.

"Was it fun?" My mum asked, smiling.

"Yeah, it was," I replied, smiling.

I yawned.

"You tired, aren't ya?" Mother asked.

I nodded my head.

"You should take a nap." She said.

I nodded my head.

I made my way to my room, lay down on my bed, and closed my eyes.

Eventually, I drifted off to sleep.
