A/N - I wrote this during camp using my phone, so it's kind of messy 😔
Anyways, enjoy <3
Godly Parent: Aphrodite 💗
!! TW !!
- Third Person's POV -
Ever since you joined camp, for some reason, many of the campers looked at you weirdly. Mostly at what you're wearing.
You had a bunch of bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and any sort of jewelry and luxuries a man can buy. Collections of watches, rings, and even fancy shoes were stocked at your bunk. They all hated you for that.
Nico never minded you for it, though. He himself was a huge fan of collecting many fancy rings. From the plain, simple ones to the big, heavy ones with crystals and elegant diamonds on them.
However, it didn't stop him from being curious by how "materialistic" you always seem to be. The two of you were on a date when he decided to ask you about it.
"Hey," he started, taking your hand in his, "Y/N?"
"Hmm?" you looked up from the tea cake you were eating, smiling at your boyfriend with a curious, gentle gaze, "What is it, love?"
Nico traced his thumb over the promise ring you wore, "You know how you always wear all that fancy stuff? Why do you seem so partial about them?"
What a gentleman, you chuckled, thinking to yourself, Always having a way with his words.
"It's a long story," you smiled weakly, looking out into the window, "You might not see me the same after."
"I really don't mind," Nico reassured you, "I love listening to you talk. I could do it all day, every day."
Your mind wandered off to when you were still a child, innocent and in awe of everything in the world.
As a daughter of Aphrodite, you always had a quirk of collecting pretty things and decorating your room with them. Glitter, beads, and flower buttons were spread across your aesthetically pleasing room.
You lived with your loving father, who worked hard every day to provide for you as a single dad. But when it finally dawned on him that his love, the goddess of love herself, wasn't coming back... everything went crumbling down.
Your pretty little picture of your perfect little family was torn apart. Every evening after school, you would come home to see your father tearing down all the things you have collected over the years.
Bit by bit, your streamers and cheap tinsel were all ripped off your walls. Posters were burned and friendship bracelets were thrown away.
Sobbing in the middle of the huge mess, you noticed your jewelry box sitting delicately on your broken vanity. It was your most prized possession - mainly because of how long you had to save up for it, and it was still in pristine condition.
From that day on, you began to only collect and use the most branded, expensive, and luxury items on the market. Your father wasn't very keen on destroying things that cost a portion of his money, so he left them alone.
After telling Nico everything, his jaw had already reached the floor. He cleared his throat and looked away sadly, "I didn't know that..."
You let out an awkward chuckle, "Maybe it isn't the most badass backstory ever, but it's mine. And believe me, I'm still trying to fix this issue of mine."
"We'll get through this together, Y/N," Nico smiled, "Us against the world, remember?"
"Promise?"
"Promise."
A/N - and from that day on, Nico helped you overcome your problem by giving you your favorite things to heal your inner child. Paper rings, friendship bracelets, and DIY streamers were all kept inside your precious jewelry box, replacing all the shiny thingamabobs that never won your heart anyway.
Sorry for not updating for so long!! I'm trying to write all of the part-twos and requests, so please be patient with me 😭🙏
