A/N - This story would take place during the PJO series, not HOO.
P.S. - the title says it all >:)
- Third Person's POV -
You and Nico have been friends since the moment the you stepped foot in camp on the same day. Having a close family member dying is sort of a bonding moment between the two bestfriends.
Every day, the two of you would hang out under your favorite oak tree near the woods, sitting on a rock under the sun. You would crack jokes, laugh, and enjoy each other's company. Everything was perfect.
It was not until the moment Luke Castellan came to talk with you in the middle of the night. You were supposed to be on patrol at the camp borders, nevertheless, you nervously stepped forward, noting Silena Beauregard standing close by.
"Y/N," Luke started, smiling without emotion, "I've come to give you an offer."
You pulled out a sword from its sheath and jarred it into Luke's face, "I don't need to hear anything you have to say."
Silena laid a hand on your shoulder, smiling weakly, "Y/N."
You huffed irritably and looked into the eyes of your enemy, "Fine... what is it?"
Luke reached into his pocket and took out a bracelet similar to Silena's, "I'm offering you to be a spy to Kronos's army."
You slapped him.
"What the-? Dude, that was some heck of an offer. Do you really expect me to-?"
"Yes," Luke said curtly, massaging his swollen cheek and scowling slightly, "Y/N... I'm already regretting this decision. Joining the enemy's side, losing my friends... losing my family. I need someone who could turn that all around for me."
You paused. When was the last time someone brought up how Luke Castellan was feeling? Perhaps he didn't actually want to do this... maybe he really did regret his actions.
You looked at Luke for a few minutes. It was a hard silence but you couldn't care for much, not when Silena held a gentle hand on your shoulder.
"Alright," you said slowly, "But swear it. Swear that this is for good."
Luke held a hand to his chest, nodding grimly, "I swear it on the River Styx."
You were about to reply back when you heard leaves rustling in the distance. Silena let out a surprised gasp before scurrying away.
Luke gulped and handed you the bracelet, tucking it firmly into your palm, "Just think about it, alright?" Then he left.
You sighed and walked back to the cabins, deciding to just sit on a rock nearby and watch the sunrise.
Your heart leaped when you saw Nico sitting there, looking rather sleepy and tired.
"Boo!" You grabbed Nico's shoulder, making him jump slightly.
"Y/N, you little bastard," he punched your arm playfully, "Can't sleep either?"
"Nah," you shook your head, leaning onto Nico's shoulder and looking off into the field, "Just... thinking things through."
Nico was quiet, yet nodded softly, "Yeah... me too."
🖤💀🖤💀🖤
That was about 2 years ago. Maybe less.
Now, you were standing face to face in front of your best friend, each on different sides. The battle raged all around the two of you, yet your eyes were sharp and your gaze unwavering.
"Nico," you muttered, sword raised at him as a monster charged from behind you.
"Y/N," Nico grumbled back, a pegasus running from behind his back.
How did it all come to this?
A/N - I know that this one-shot interferes so much with the actual storyline and canon plot, so I apollo-gize :P
Anyways, shall I write an alternate ending of (1) Nico not being able to kill you, or (2) Nico being forced to kill you?
Thanks for reading, byee <3
