A/N - I just found this image on Pinterest and immediately thought of a cute trope. Enjoy<3
- Nico's POV -
Frank and Hazel were assigned to bring a demigod back home safely. Once Nico heard that his baby sister and his soon to be brother-in-law had to jump into an abandoned hospital, he insisted that he should tag along.
The kid was trapped in a room with a drakon at the entrance of the building. How did the monster even got there in the first place - Nico did not know.
However, it was an even wilder guess to even think how the kid could end up in an abandoned hospital. As the son of Hades, Nico fully-well believe that things such as ghosts and zombies exist.
He stepped foot nervously onto the area and tried to look for Frank and Hazel, all the while keeping an eye out for the drakon.
The plan was simple. Get the kid, feel free to eliminate the monster, and get the heck out.
Finally, after a minute of searching, Nico's eyes landed on Frank, gently tugging at a kid's arm.
She was about 5 feet tall, her eyes were wide and terrified. Judging from the amount of cuts and scratches she had on her arm, she probably broke the ice with the drakon.
"Frank!" Nico's footsteps sped up to a jog as he rushed to hand the little girl some ambrosia, "Where's Hazel?"
"With the drakon," Frank said grimly, "But it's alright, she's with-"
"Take care of the kid!" Nico yelled from over his shoulder, already running off to the direction that Frank had pointed Hazel would be.
He pushed the rusty elevator button impatiently, cursing the stairs for being blocked with a pile of rubble. Nico nearly contemplated climbing up the wall when the lift sounded ding!
As the Ghost King ascended through the floors, the sound of roars and yells rang even more clearly in his ears by the second.
The elevator opened, revealing Hazel backed away in a corner as the drakon charged at her with no weapon in hand. But for some reason, the look on her face was... cheeky? Since when have-
"Hey, ugly!" Nico roared, pointing his sword to the monster as he prepared to summon up some ghosts, "Get away from my- HOLY!"
Before he could say another word, the elevator wires snapped and caused the poor boy to nearly plunge to his death. Nico jumped out at the last millisecond and winced as he realized that his leg was trapped between the doors.
It was quiet. A flash of light surrounded the room, along with the defeated roar of the drakon.
Nico let out a sigh, "Sis? Can I get a hand, pretty please?"
"My, my..." he heard a voice from the other side of the room, "So this is the amazing Nico di Angelo I've heard about?"
A pretty girl knelt over Nico, smirking down at him with a knowing grin.
"I'm Y/N," she stuck out her hand to Nico's face, "Hazel told me all about you. Although, I expected you to be more..."
Y/N gestured to his wedged foot.
"You know - cooler?"
Nico groaned and looked away, failing to hide how red his ears were, "I've had better days. I swear, I'm actually super duper cool."
Hazel and Y/N worked together to pry Nico's foot from the door without snapping it off.
"Where's Frank?" Hazel asked, looking worried as she turned to face Nico.
"He's with the kid," Nico muttered gruffly, "But don't take the elevator, or the stairs."
"Well... there's the broken escalator," Hazel shrugged as she stood up, "Y/N, would you please help Nico out?"
"Sure," Y/N chuckled at the look Nico had on his face, his mouth open to protest and complain.
As soon as Hazel was out of sight, Y/N helped patched up Nico's leg before handing him some ambrosia. She slid an arm around his shoulders and helped pull him up.
"I hope you don't mind me hanging out with you," Y/N smiled awkwardly, trying to diffuse the tension, "I'm visiting Camp Half-Blood next week, so I'll need a friend there."
"You're from Camp Jupiter?" Nico asked curiously, hobbling slightly as he took a step forward.
"Yeah," Y/N chuckled and adjusted herself as Nico subconsciously slid his arm around her waist. For support, of course.
"W-Well... I'll be glad to hang out with you," Nico blushed, his forearm tickling slightly from the contact, "I don't have that many friends, anyway. But whoever my sister approves, I approve."
"How kind of you, Mr. di Angelo," she smirked, "You can teach me how to do your super-cool sword skills. Maybe one day I could be as great a fighter as you."
"Shut up, dummy."
"You still need me, Nico D. And the Jello's."
