Heartstrings in Play

Chapter 6

I didn't want to leave her because I love her.  I keep looking at all our pictures together.  I don't want to lose her or hurt her.  I take a deep breath and sit on the porch outside.  I know I'm a bad boy, but it's not like that with her. She makes me want to be better.  I can't get our time together and it is constantly playing over in my head.  I try to stay busy and move with my brother along with the family business.  Days turn into months , months turn into years. I know I'm thinking a lot, I mean don't get me wrong I love my wife but I need Mariah.  I look at my phone,  and she's everywhere I turn.  I go for a drive, and my phone rings.
" Hello?" I say as I answer the phone.
- Sage, I need you to handle some jobs tonight.  Will says in a demanding tone.
I take a deep breath.
- I'm sending you the information now.  He said with a bossy tone.
I roll my eyes.
" Fine, send me everything."  I say thinking to myself I need something to pass the time anyways.
Hours go by and I finish the job. I'm hurt with cuts and bruises. I go to the hospital hoping to see her , but she's not there.  She was on call tonight.   I walk into the hospital , and see Cole.   I've  seen him before. I thought to myself.
- Let's get you taken care of.  Cole said in a calm tone.
I nod and walk in the room.  My phone rings as I sit down in the chair. I look at my phone, It's just Ximena.  I just look at my phone and phone down.  Cole walks in the room.
" Are you okay  buddy?" he asks.
" I was on a job and got beat up pretty badly. "  I said laughing.
My phone goes off non stop. I cut my phone off.  Cole walks out of the room after cleaning all my cuts and wrapping them up.
Cole walks in his office and calls Mariah.
- Hello  It's Mariah what's up?  She said calmly.
" Are you busy?"  He asks.
- Not at the moment why? She asked all concerned.
" I think you need to come to the hospital like now." He said.
-  Why would I need to come to the hospital?"  She asked all concerned.
" Because I think I'm taking care of a mad man that wants to  kill me."  he said, all scared for his life.
Mariah just laughs.
- There's only one person that I can think of that would be a mad man Cole.
Cole takes a deep breath and calms down.
- I'm on my way. Mariah said as she rolled her eyes.
Cole hangs up the phone and walks back into the room. I just look at him.
" We have a nurse on her way." He said in a nervous tone.
" You have a nurse on call?" I asked him.
Cole rolls his eyes. I get up and walk around the room. Thirty minutes later Mariah gets to the hospital. She walks in her office. Cole walks away and goes into Mariah's office.
" Who is it this time Cole?" Mariah asked him.
" His name is Sage." Cole said with a shaky voice.
She takes a deep breath.
" What room Cole?" She asked surprised.
" Room 212. "
She leaves her office and walks in the room I'm in.
" Hey there bad boy." She says with a smile as she walks to me.
I look at her and smile.
" I've missed you amore."
" Just can't stay away from danger, can you daredevil."
" Knowing I would have you to take care of me no"
I wink at her. She checks me over. I missed her touch. Cole watched our every move.
" Baby, who's that doctor?"
" That's Cole, He's one of the doctors here."
She finishes wrapping my arm up. She looks at me and smiles.
" Who was it this time?"
I laugh and kiss her cheek. I put some hair behind her ear and whisper.
" No matter amore me encanta jugar con fuego."
She smiles at me.
" Por favor, tenga cuidado guapo."
She said as she kissed my cheek.
Mariah puts her arms around my neck. She looks into my eyes. Cole watches every move we make. I look over at him and he walks away. I grab her hand.
" So do I have to stay overnight, nurse Mari?' He says as he winks at me.
" You can stay with me." She said putting her head on my chest.
I smile at her and hold her close.
" Come on, let's get you out of here. You need rest."
As we walk out the door Cole grabs Mariah by the arm.
" Cole let go of me."
Cole grips her arm tighter.
" No, I think we need to talk."
I get in between them.
" She said let her go."
" Who are you to her?"
" To her you don't want to know. To you your worst nightmare."
he let's go of her and she gets behind me.
" If I ever hear or see you touch her again, you will have me to deal with. "
Cole backs away and runs.
" Baby are you okay ?" I ask her.
" I am now thank you sweetie." She says.
" Anything for you love." I say as I hug her tight.
We leave and go to her house.
" Make yourself at home sweetie."
I kiss her cheek, and walk around her house. She has pictures everywhere of her and her family.
" Hey Mari, who is this guy in this picture?"
She walks to me.
" That's Luke my brother. I miss him. "
She started crying so I just held her.
" Where is he? your brother." I asked her as I whipped her tears away.
" I wish I knew Sage."
I take a deep breath, Let her fall asleep on me. I put her in her bed, I covered her over , kissed her cheek , and watched her sleep for a while.
" Sleep well princess." I say as I cut the lights off and leave her house.
