THE PLEASANT HOLIDAYS always fly by, and soon, Kobayashi Aotori's happy days came to an end.

—School has started in Shiratorizawa.

In the back row, a tall young man lowered his head in concentration. The navy-blue ahoge on his head danced slightly with the breeze coming in through the window, sometimes curling in confusion, sometimes standing upright in sudden realization, looking very lively.

The classmates around him seemed to be influenced, though it could also be that this was inherently a strong class.

There weren't many who were distracted inside the room. Most were like Kobayashi Aotori, diligently studying.

In an instant, the only sounds in the room were the writing and turning of pages, the white noise soothing the mind involuntarily. Despite being just a first-year class, the study atmosphere was stronger than that of a third-year graduating class.

The only noticeable difference was probably the severity of everyone's dark circles.

Kobayashi Aotori's pen tip fell on the paper, making a rustling sound. The blank spaces of the practice book were filled with black ink, his neat handwriting slightly messy but orderly amidst the chaos, much like his playing style.

Although it seems to be a wild way of playing, it actually carries a deep understanding and insight.

Mistaking Kobayashi Aotori's years of hard-earned instincts and talent as a special playing style, countless teams had discussed, studied and explored without him even knowing it, but—

The final conclusion was that it was unsolvable.

Of course, the essence of the "Kobayashi Style" was nothing more than a slightly talented hard worker's personalized playing style. How could it truly be fully explored and its pattern discovered?

Thus, various teams had different opinions:

Some said Aotori's playing style was his own unique creation, something they had not yet fully understood. This view was mainly held by Inarizaki;

Another thought was that Aotori was often in a state of random thought on the court, using his superior thinking to adapt and find the most suitable playing style from the countless techniques he had learned. This led to the diversity in Aotori's displayed playing style.

This hypothesis was mainly supported by Akaashi from Fukurodani and Kuroo from Nekoma.

Of course, this silent "academic debate" was conducted without Aotori himself being aware.

In the small open space behind his house, Kobayashi Aotori served a few volleyballs to the opposite court. He looked down at his hands and clenched them lightly.
