Lunchtime

A tall and slender youth swiped his meal card, walking past tables, drawing frequent glances.

Kobayashi Aotori, however, paid no attention to these. Instead, he cared more about finding a suitable spot—one where he wouldn't be approached by acquaintances or be asked to share a table.

Raising his gaze, he saw Tendou Satori waving at him from ahead. Across from Tendou sat the expressionless Ushijima Wakatoshi.

Kobayashi Aotori stopped in his tracks, and under Tendou's expectant gaze, he decisively turned around, ignoring the disappointed "Eh—" behind him, and resolutely walked alone to an empty corner.

Tendou Satori, left behind without mercy, propped his chin up. Even though he was conversing with Ushijima, his eyes remained fixed on Kobayashi Aotori's direction. "Ushiwaka-kun~, Why do you think Aotori-chan doesn't want to have lunch with us?"

Not far away, Taichi Kawanishi and Semi Eita, who were in the line for food, exchanged glances. A silent understanding passed between them, and the two quietly carried their trays away from the area.

Under the inquiry, Ushijima Wakatoshi calmly ate his meal, responding composedly, "I don't know."

Tendou Satori let out a long "Eh—" and then proceeded to discuss the plot of a popular TV drama, still enthusiastically explaining even though Ushijima had never watched it.

Kobayashi Aotori spent his lunchtime in apparent tranquility...

Or so it seemed.

He observed the boy in front of him, raising an eyebrow. Goshiki Tsutomu, oblivious to any change in his demeanor, sat across from Kobayashi Aotori without a care in the world.

Kobayashi Aotori watched the other party's unconscious actions and sighed inwardly.

This fool probably thinks he's keeping me company and preventing me from feeling lonely.

Forced to accept the good intentions, Kobayashi Aotori focused on his meal.

"Um, that... your precise serves... how did you achieve them?" Halfway through, Goshiki Tsutomu finally mustered the courage to ask the question that had been on his mind.

Kobayashi Aotori paused upon hearing this, looking up at the somewhat nervous Goshiki, whose eyes were darting everywhere.

Precise serves? What's this guy talking about? They're just normal serves... Is he telling a lame joke?

Goshiki noticed Kobayashi's puzzled look and immediately felt a burning sensation in his ears.

W-What's that expression supposed to mean? Is he saying that such a serve is too simple to even mention?!
