"You are rich; there are so many people you could order to do this; I am a wanted criminal and you still made me wear a mask and a hoodie that covers my tattoo just so I could help you walk your 'puppies'?!" Mikey deadpanned as he was walking beside the h/c haired girl, who was also wearing something casual, while he was holding Bambi's leash.
"She likes you a lot" Y/n chirped with a genuine smile on her face, while she was holding Cupcake's and Dobby's leash. "And I wanted to spend time with you."
"I'm supposed to be your boss... or something similiar to that" the white haired male sighed.
"Well, I like you. So when we're not working you are my friend" Y/n answered, and it was fortunate for Mikey that he had to wear a mask because he couldn't help but smile at the girls comment.
"Lucky for you, I like you too. So I won't shoot you for this" he said.
"You wanted to shoot me?"
"No, don't worry about it."
Y/n kept it a secret that she actually just wanted to spend time with Mikey now that she admitted to herself that she likes him. So she made him help her walk her 'puppies'.
And Mikey kept it a secret that he was enjoying their time together. Just for today he wanted to forget that he was a criminal. He wanted to forget all the pain, all the sadness he had in himself. He wanted to forget his dead family, just for a little bit. He wanted to forget that they are both criminals who could kill without feeling any guilt.
And it wasn't hard when the girl beside him was talking non-stop about things she likes and made him tell her about things he likes.
It wasn't hard to forget when the girl beside him took all his attention. She made him forget the pain.
She was closer and closer with painting his black heart back to red.
He didn't care how crazy she can be. She showed him a few months ago who the real her is, and Mikey loved that version of her.
But there was one thing he noticed just now. Ever since the girl has been with him his dark impulses didn't come out. Never once. He was himself for a whole year now.
And that's when he realised what day it was. It's been a exactly a year since he first met Y/n. And that girl had so much light around that it was enough to light up his world too.
He was lost in the darkness. And in that one year she became the light he was looking for.
She became the reason for him to try and heal. He still has a long way ahead to finally be happy, but now he is able to smile. Even tho it's only around the girl.
He didn't have nightmares for a whole year, he had been eating more and more day by day. They were baby steps, but seems like he only needed someone who was even more stubborn than him to finally make him start to take those baby steps towards the healing.
