Amie trudged into the house, exhaustion etched on her face. The stress of her job had taken a toll on her, but as soon as she stepped into the warm embrace of her home, her weariness began to dissipate. A tiny ball of energy hurtled towards her, squealing "Amie! Amie I missed you!"
Amie's fatigue vanished, replaced by a radiant smile. She scooped up the tiny bundle of joy, her 3 year old, niece Ipshita, and twirled her around, showering her with kisses.
"Aww, my baby! I missed you too!" she cooed, her voice dripping with affection.
Ipshita pouted, her lower lip jutting out. "I want to complain!" she declared, her eyes sparkling with mischief. Amie's eyebrows furrowed in mock concern. "Who made my Ipshi sad, hm?" she asked, her voice sugary sweet.
Ipshita's pout deepened. "Mumma didn't give me chocolate!" she accused, her tiny hands on her hips. Amie's eyes widened in mock horror. "Oh no! Let's go ask her why she's being so mean!" she exclaimed, carrying Ipshita to her sister-in-law, who was watching the scene unfold with a knowing smile.
As they approached, ipshita's mom intervened, "Ipshita, you've already had three chocolates today, that's enough for now."
Amie's eyes sparkled with playful reprimand. "You lied to your Amie!" she teased, tickling Ipshita's tummy, sending her into fits of giggles.
With a final snuggle, Amie handed Ipshita back to her mom, Preeti and promised, "Wait, I'll freshen up, and then we'll play, okay?" Ipshita nodded, her eyes shining with excitement, and Amie headed upstairs, her heart full of joy and her exhaustion forgotten.
As Amie freshened up, she couldn't help but think about how her niece, Ipshita, had become a daily dose of sunshine in her life. The little one's antics and affection had a way of brightening even the most mundane days.
Feeling revitalized, Amie made her way to Mahir's room, knowing he had arrived home from college. As she entered, their eyes met, and without a word, she walked into his open arms. He enveloped her in a warm embrace, his hands tracing gentle circles on her back.
When they finally broke apart, Amie asked, her voice barely above a whisper, "When will we tell our parents about us? I think they already know!" Mahir's eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled, his voice low and husky.
"I think you're right, they might have an inkling. But let's make it official soon. Maybe we can plan a family dinner and share our news then?"
Amie nods in agreement. Just as Mahir and Amie were lost in their tender moment, a tiny voice interrupted, "Amie, you said you'll play with me!" Ipshita stood in the doorway, her lower lip jutting out in a pout.
Amie laughed, "Ah, baby, I'm so sorry! I got caught up with Mahir here."
Mahir chimed in pulling her cheeks softly, "She's playing with me, Ipshi!"
Ipshita's face scrunched up in distaste. "You're not smoll to play!" she exclaimed, her eyebrows furrowed in disapproval.
Mahir and Amie burst out laughing at her adorable antics. "Well, I think we've been dismissed!" Mahir chuckled.
Amie scooped up Ipshita, "How about we take you to the amusement park? You can play to your heart's content, and we'll join in on the fun too!"
Ipshita's face lit up like a lamp. "Yay! Amusing palk! I want to go!"
They both laughed at her gibberish language. As they headed out, the sun shone bright, casting a warm glow over their little family.
The amusement park was a kaleidoscope of colors and sounds, filled with laughter and excitement. Ipshita squealed with delight, her eyes sparkling like diamonds as she twirled from one attraction to the next.
