Amie
We sat on my couch, our noodles and drinks in hand, ready for the challenge. "1... 2... 3..." I counted, and we dug in.
I watched Mahir's face contort in shock as the spicy noodles hit his taste buds. His eyes widened, and he looked at me like I had betrayed him. "Kyun ek bite mai hi khatam???" I teased, chuckling.
(What happened only one bite and you're done?)But to my surprise, he took another bite, and another, his face turning beet red. The only sounds he made were "Sssss... hahh!!!" as he struggled to handle the heat.
I couldn't help but laugh at his antics, his ears and face flushed with color. Finally, he threw in the towel. "It's spicy... I quit, I can't eat more. Sssss...!"
I chuckled, feeling victorious. "I told you already x?" I said, grinning.
Mahir looked at me like I was crazy. "Huhh!! My mouth is burning, itna spicy kon khata hai?"
(Who eats this spicy)I felt a pang of sympathy and jumped up to get him some ice cream. When I returned, he devoured it like a starving man, finally calming down.
"Ohh god, Amie, I'll never eat those noodles again," he declared, still looking traumatized.
I chuckled, patting his back. "Areh, we'll put less sauce next time."
He shook his head vehemently. "No next time."
I laughed, enjoying the banter. "Okay, okay. No next time."

I waited for Amna at the college gate, phone in hand. She was running late, a rare occurrence. When she finally arrived, she was beaming with excitement. "Trip, trip, trip!" she whispered, her eyes sparkling. We chatted as we walked to class, settling into our seats just as Rahul Sir called out, "Class!" Our attention shifted to the door, where a new student stood, tall and pale with messy hair and captivating brown eyes.
"Omg, he's cute na!" Amna whispered, her standard reaction to any decent-looking guy. But I had to admit, Anurag Roy was charming.
Sir introduced him, and Anurag gave a confident, wink-filled intro that left us all stunned. "Myself Anurag Roy... girls, don't be shy, you can ask for my number if you want to."
Wow, what an entrance!
Before I knew it, Sir was pointing at me, "Amie, you help him with notes and stuff. Anurag, she's Amie, she'll help you with studies. Sit with her." Wait, what?! Why me?!
I nodded, feeling a bit put on the spot. Anurag's eyes locked onto mine, and he smiled, his gaze lingering a bit too long.
Amna whispered, "You're so lucky, huh! I wish Sir had told me to sit with him." I shot her a glare.
As Anurag sat down beside me, our eyes met, and we exchanged a brief smile. The lecture began, and we didn't get a chance to talk.
