Everyone was busy in function while mahir rushed after Amie, passing through all the guests his heart pounding in his chest. He finally caught up to her just outside in the garden seated on the bench.
"Amie!" Mahir called out, his voice filled with concern. He reached out to touch her arm gently, but she flinched away.
"What do you want, Mahir?" Amie asked, her voice trembling with emotion. Her eyes were filled with hurt and confusion.
Taking a deep breath, Mahir mustered up the courage to explain himself. "Amie, I need you to understand that everything between Advika and me was just a test," he confessed, his voice filled with regret.
Amie's eyes widened, and she looked at him, searching for answers. "A test? What are you talking about?" she asked.
Mahir stepped closer, his gaze locked with hers. "I wanted to see if you would get jealous, Amie. I needed to know if you felt the same way about me as I do about you," he explained, his voice filled with vulnerability.
Amie gazed at him, her eyes brimming with a mix of emotions. "You... you did all of this to test my feelings?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Mahir nodded, his heart pounding in his chest. "Yes, Amie. I care about you more than anything, and I had to be sure. I'm sorry if I hurt you," he said sincerely.
Amie took a moment to process his words, her eyes shifting from his face to the ground.
"I... I didn't realize you felt that way, Mahir. I thought... I thought you were interested in Advika," she admitted.
Mahir reached out, gently cupping Amie's face in his hands. "No, Amie I messed up big time," he began, his voice filled with regret. "I never meant to hurt you."
Amie's anger burned inside her, and she glared at him. "How could you do that, Mahir? How could you play with my emotions like that?"
Mahir dropped to his knees in front of her, his voice pleading. "I know, Amie. I was foolish and thoughtless. But I see now that I went about it all wrong"
A mixture of relief and happiness flooded her soul, knowing that there is nothing between them.
However, Amie decided to play it cool. She wanted to teach Mahir a lesson, to show him that she wouldn't easily forgive his little charade. So, she put on a grumpy facade, pretending to be unaffected by the revelation.
Amie crossed her arms and turned away slightly, feigning annoyance. "So, Mahir," she said with a hint of irritation in her voice, "I guess all that drama with Advika was just a game to you, huh?"
Mahir looked at her, his eyes filled with remorse. "Amie, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. It was never my intention."
Amie couldn't help but crack a small smile, her eyes twinkling mischievously.
"Well, you certainly succeeded in getting my attention. But don't think you're off the hook that easily. You've got some serious groveling to do."
Mahir's face lit up with a mix of relief and amusement. "I promise, Amie, I'll make it up to you. Just give me a chance."
Mahir couldn't help but chuckle at Amie's continued grumpy act. He knew he had to come up with some grand gestures to win her heart back.
Leaning in closer, he whispered, "Alright, Amie, challenge accepted. But I need your help. Give me some ideas on how to make it up to you"
Amie raised an eyebrow, trying to hide her smile. "Hmm, let me think.
how about this? you make me all of my favorite dishes. But, you know what? Forget it. You probably don't even know what my favorite dishes are."
