It was stated that after death, the human brain lives on for seven minutes to replay its best memories.
I couldn't really track if it was really seven minutes because it felt too short for me but yes, when I died five years ago it did replay its best memories and that was when I met her. Naomi is my seven minute.
My mother told me when I was young to love someone who makes me feel seen and Naomi saw through everything in me. She did it perfectly and effortlessly.
I have loved her since the beginning and I don't think I can unlove her. I can't love her any less but I can always love her more. She will always be a part of me, she completes me, she's the other part of my soul.
Naomi changed my perception of love. Before it actually stars, the moon, the sky and everything in between but she made me realize that love tells me that I am home, no matter where I am in the world.
"It's just another branch like what we found in the other locations, sir." Miyuki, a member of the Espionage Unit stated as she handed me another branch of Blighted Tree.
Currently, I am in Sendai to check on the locations with sigh surges of cursed energy over the past months, it has come to our attention that some of the places with high cases had branches of the Blighted Tree.
This confirms our hunch that someone is really behind this scheme because they went through all the trouble to place the branches all over the world to confuse us.
We only have about a month left according to Inari's calculations and we are not getting any closer to finding it. Naoki's getting frustrated, we all are frustrated. The drastic changes in the weather, the constant attacks on cities, things were getting out of hand.
"What's her name again?" I asked Ren, a member of the execution opened up about the issue with the media that we are facing.
Since the attacks are getting more and more frequent, the media is getting more out of control since the news kept on spreading like wildfire.
"Emi. It's Emi Watanabe from Japan Today, she's been covering the recent events and been pinpointing the odd occurrences."
"I'll tell Naoki about it when he arrives at his office. He's still probably at his house, you know his wife just had their son so he's getting torn out in between a father and a sorcerer."
I then contacted Naoki about that matter, he told me to assign someone to take care of it so I thought for some time who'd I send to stop that reporter.
When I arrived at home, Naomi was already cooking dinner for the two of us. She might've arrived a little earlier than me.
"I'm home." I announced, she gave me a kiss on the cheek and helped me with my jacket.
"How was it?" She asked as she flipped the chicken on the other side.
"A branch again." I replied as I helped her prepare the other dishes.
"Yeah, that's what happened in Hiroshima too. The bigger the branch is, the higher the number of cursed spirits that it attracts." Naomi responded after me.
"By the way, love. Who do you think I should send to a reporter to talk her out to stop featuring these strange phenomena." I asked, munching on the food that she prepared for us.
Naomi tilted her head for a while. "Definitely not Maki because she'd use force. Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi are away too. Hmm, how about the Public Relations Unit?"
"They are away too, they are handling the foreign disturbances and are scattered around the globe." I replied, massaging my temple.
Geez, is this what Naoki is dealing with every single time of the day? What a pain in ass.
