Waking up to the morning gleam shining through my window, knowing deep down that today will be a horrible day, feels like a weight on my chest.

I lost track of the time last night; tears just wouldn't stop flowing until exhaustion took over and I fell asleep.

After some time of just laying on my bed, I mustered the strength to rise from the bed and headed for a shower, a much-needed escape to soothe my frayed nerves.

As I step into the bathroom, I slowly began peeling off my clothes.

As I stand under the gentle cascade, I let myself hope for a moment of peace. The cool droplets hitting my skin wash away the remnants of sadness and exhaustion. Each drop feels like a weight lifting off, allowing me to breathe a little easier and I can feel myself starting to relax.

The steam wraps around me, offering a fleeting sense of comfort in the midst of it all. It's in these quiet moments under the shower that I find a sliver of peace, a brief respite from the sadness that lingers.

Hours had passed and I was looking out to the garden, I really wanted to go outside, because this whole house made me feel so sick. Not only the house but the people of the house and I hated it.

Then when I was about to move from the window, I heard a dog bark. Kane! How could I forget.

Immediately I rushed to the closet and grabbed a pair of shoes. As I stumbled down the stairs, my heart racing, I was suddenly confronted by five pairs of eyes staring back at me, a stark reminder that it was still breakfast time.

Slowing my steps, I tried to gather my thoughts amidst the unexpected audience, feeling a mix of embarrassment and confusion swirling inside me. The weight of their gazes made me pause, unsure of how to navigate this unexpected morning encounter.

But I wasn't focused on anyone else's eyes I was focused on his. He looked tired and confused and shock at the same time.

But amidst the gazes, it wasn't anyone else's eyes that captured my attention; it was his. His eyes held of weariness, confusion, and shock all at once, mirroring the whirlwind of emotions I was feeling inside. The weight of his gaze felt like a silent conversation, speaking volumes without a single word exchanged.

I didn't look away and he didn't look away, but I knew if I wasn't the one to look away we'd be here whole day, so I turned my attention to the floor.

In that instant, I found myself frozen in one spot, torn between heading back up the stairs or continuing down the stairs. The uncertainty hung heavy in the air, each option laden with its own set of implications.

Going back upstairs seemed like it would only amplify the embarrassment already palpable in the room, and it will be awkward as hell. On the other hand, going down the stairs felt like a nightmare, having to are all of them. Besides I wasn't sure if I still held the same position to just go outside.

As I stood there, grappling with the decision, a sense of urgency crept in, urging me to make a choice before the tension in the room became unbearable. My heart raced as I weighed my options, the weight of each decision pressing down on me. In the end, with a deep breath, I made a choice, and I decided to go right back to the room.

But I hadn't even made it halfway up the stairs when my name was called, "Angelina come back."

Shit I knew I shouldn't have gone back upstairs, now I was being called back down. I mean I didn't have to listen but I rather not make them mad, so walked back down.

Stopping by the table, there was a deafening silence, not a single soul stirring or uttering a word. My gaze shifted to Angelo, his expression tinged with apology, yet a voice inside reminded me of the caution to not place trust too easily in this setting.

Redirecting my focus to Nicolas, our eyes met, and with a simple gesture of his finger, a ripple effect ensued. Suddenly, just like that, everyone started moving, reaching for their plates and departing from the dining room.

My heart thumped, thumped, thumped, with each second that passed.

Then no one was left, just him and I in silence, complete silence.

"Where are you going." He asked finally breaking the silence.

After a beat I replied, "I was going to go to the garden."

His eyebrows shot up, a look of astonishment spreading across his features. His eyes, a blend of green and brown, darted back and forth between me and the door. Clearly taken aback, that I'd actually want to go anywhere in this house. After a moment of contemplation, he drew in a deep breath, preparing to impart what seemed like a reprimand for my actions.

"Allow Maksim to accompany you," he declared with gravity.

I was caught off guard by his unexpected statement.

"W-what?" I questioned, puzzled.

"Maksim will accompany you to the garden," he reiterated softly, his gaze fixed on me. In his eyes, a novel emotion lingered, unfamiliar and enigmatic.

I waited for any type of twist any 'buts' or 'before you go' but none came.

"T-thank you." I stuttered to say.

Then I was on my heals towards the door.

"Wait." I heard him say.

I knew it, there had to be some kind of 'but' some twist.

When I turned back around he was already in front of me and my heart skipped several beats.

"Can I... talk to you later about something?" He asked.

Say yes. My subconscious screamed at me. But I couldn't, I wasn't. And I was too afraid to say anything, so instead I said nothing.

When I stepped outside, I realized there are more guards than ever, and one of them was the guy I smashed a flower pot on his head. He looked at me then almost immediately look away.

That's when I realized they didn't trust me, not like before. Before I'd wake up to only two guards on the premises, now there's more than ten.

"Good morning." Maksim said from beside me.

I didn't reply. I still couldn't believe him, these people fake so well.

Without another word I made my way over to the dog cage.

"Hey, how are y-" My words trailed off as Kane leaped onto me, showering me with joyful licks. The rush of happiness flooded through me as I realized he remembered me after all this time.

"I missed you too."
