She touched me-no, she slapped me.

But the fact remains, she made the choice to lay her hand on me. On me.

And goodness, it fills me with a rush of excitement to imagine she willingly placed her hand on me.

She chose to slap me, and I definitely saw it coming.

"I'm... I didn't mean..." she faltered, looking stunned.

This wasn't supposed to happen. I wasn't supposed to lose the only person I cared about keeping now.

~~~
"No one actually cares unless I pay them, half of my men hate me." I say while typing on my phone.
I was trying to get some work done, but Angelina just came into my office, making it hard to focus on anything.
"Well, I care," she asserts, prompting me to lift my gaze from my phone and lock eyes with her.
"Is that so?" I inquire.
"Yep, I care about you. Although you may act like a dick sometimes, I still care."
Then I laughed.
~~~

What I said was really fuck up.

"I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to." Angelina was in a state of panic.

"Angelina, Angelina, listen to me. I'm fine, it's fine." I reassured her.

She gradually eased her nerves, taking in my words and visibly calming down.

"Come on, let's get you to the shower," I said, leading her to the bathroom.

I turned on the water and stepped out, giving her some space to be alone.

Emerging from the bathroom, I cautiously approached the door, to check if Ivan had done what I told him to. With bated breath, I scanned the floor, my eyes landing on the delicate garments scattered haphazardly. Ivan's forgetfulness was evident as I knelt down, gathering each piece with care.

I gently placed the clothes on the soft bed, swiftly grabbed my phone, and made my way to the office, I had some work to do.

I had to hire a new gardener, although I told Ivan to do it, I don't really trust him with that duty anymore, since he was the one who hired the old man, and I need to help figure out who's targeting us, because there was no way I was using Angelina again.

~~~
"Ivan I need Vera to come over tomorrow." I said to him.
I sense Vera might hold know who the person is. With Angelina trust in her in her, perhaps she shared details about who was by her side or assisted in her move to Sweden; Vera could be the one to know.
As for my day, I remained glued to my office throughout, not stepping out at all. After a year of solely focusing on locating Angelina, now that I've succeeded, it's time to re-enter the work scene because my men obviously need help.
"Yeah... sure," he murmured softly, "and why if I may ask?"
I sighed, "because I think she knows who is working for Dimitri."
"Oh, absolutely," he replies, and I can almost envision the grin spreading across his face as he speaks on the other end of the call.
Hanging up, I glanced at the clock, noticing it was already 12:30 am; time had slipped away unnoticed. Letting out a sigh, I left my office, wrapping up the day's work. As I stepped out, the quiet of the night enveloped me, a gentle reminder of how much work I have to do tomorrow.
I ascended the stairs with care, gently opening the door open, only to be taken aback by the sight of Angelina peacefully asleep on my bed.
I hadn't seen her for the whole day, and I half expected her to be asleep in her room after what happened this morning, but here she was, sleeping, in my bed.
Quietly, I approached the bed, careful not to disturb her peaceful slumber. I gently slipped in beside her, her back facing me. As I settled in, she slowly turned around, her eyes half-open, meeting mine in the dimly lit room.
"I didn't think you'd come up," she said wearily.
A small smile graced my lips. "Of course I would," I replied, and she mirrored my smile with one of her own. In that moment, words seemed unnecessary as our smiles spoke for itself.
With a gentle touch, her hands found their way to my chest, a silent yet comforting gesture. She then inched closer, seeking solace in the warmth of my embrace, cuddling against my chest. The moment felt intimate and tender, like a silent understanding between us.
As my hand gently caressed her hair, I whispered, "I'm sorry."
She simply smiled against my chest and softly uttered, "it's okay." Was the last thing she said better drifting off to sleep.
Listening to her silent breathing, I found solace in the peaceful rhythm of the night. Eventually, I too succumbed to sleep as well.
