Chapter eleven: Love in the making

Hanni

I didn't know who to call, so I ended up calling my cousin, Danielle. And speaking of the devil, she walked in to the waiting room with the most worried look in her eyes. "I called Haerin, she will call Minju and they will arrive here shortly." I only waited for her to stop talking so that I could throw myself on her. "It's all my fault!" The blame was heavy on my back but Danielle only tried to calm me. "She's going to be okay, Hanni. You didn't know that any of this would happen." She said and I shook my head against her shoulder.

"I hurt her so much, Danielle. I broke her heart and now she's here, fighting for her life because of me. If I wasn't so harsh on her." I collapsed on her shoulder again as I struggled to breathe, fighting back the anxiety that was consuming me. My heart was thumping inside my chest, ready to break through my chest as the feeling of loosing Minji grew and it was agonizing. I felt so damn stupid and so mad at myself. Minji didn't deserve any of this from me, especially after everything she did for me. After she let me find refuge in her arms. After she opened the doors to her home so that I had a place to stay in. She did all of it so that I could be okay.

I wrapped my arms tightly around Danielle as Minji's last words resonated in the walls of my head. It wasn't selfish of her at all, it was just her being human and falling in love. And I was just being a bitch, Minji's never done anything to hurt me, the kiss...she was drunk. It was wrong but she was desperate to do something to make me stay. And to think that I would go back to the man that kicked me out of our house without remorse, when there's Minji. I shut my eyes close at the last memory of Minji hugging me in her arms.

"Hanni!" I felt my body shiver at the voice, it was Minju. I let go of Danielle and was met with Minju whose eyes showed only worry and fear. "What happened to her? Is she okay? Where is she?" She was panicked as she shook me aggressively trying to get an answer from me, I couldn't answer her as I broke down again. "Minju, calm down. She'll be okay, just have fate." Danielle said as she tried to get Minju off me. "Where's aunt Minji?" My eyes shot up to see a cute little Eunchae hugging her teddy bear as she looked around the hospital looking for Minji.

And my heart shattered once more. Minju looked back at her daughter and could only let out a pained smile. She went over to her and picked her up. "We'll see her soon, okay?" The little one only nodded as she hugged her mom. "I miss aunt Minji." Eunchae said through her yawn as she tried to accommodate herself better in her mother's arms. If she only knew that her aunt was fighting for her life because of me. That I was the reason she'd probably never see her aunt again. I could only break down as I let the thoughts consume me whole once more.

"Aunt Hanni!" My eyebrows furrowed at Eunchae who was gesturing for Minju to let me hold her. Her mother was a little skeptical but complied, Eunchae has never called me that. Once the little one wrapped her arms around me, I held her tighter. "Aunt Minji really loves you!" The little one said with a giggle, I looked up at Minju who looked away from me. Did they know something I didn't? "What do you mean?" I asked the little one. She giggled and later spoke. "Aunt Minji always talks about you. She finds you very beautiful." Eunchae said. "Eunchae, you promised Minji to never tell her that." Minju scolded but Eunchae stuck her tongue out at her mother and turned to look at me. "You're aunt Minji's girlfriend, right?" I felt my heart drop down to the pit of my stomach.

"No, I'm not her girlfriend Eunchae." The little one's smile was wiped off her face. "I told aunt Minji to kiss you!" Eunchae said with a pout. I looked over at Minju who was now taking Eunchae in her arms and giving her to Haerin. "Distract her while I talk to Hanni." Haerin only nodded as she took the little one and started to walk away and Eunchae was more than happy to be in Haerin's arms. Danielle followed behind her girlfriend so that me and Minju could be alone to talk. And I could feel my blood pumping through my veins as Minju sat next to me. "Did Minji ever come to her senses?" She asked me and I turned to look at her confused.
